Cracked comments invisible?

A couple people reported they couldn't see the comments on this lovely rape article today. I opened the article in Chrome and noticed the comments are invisible in Chrome. I normally use Firefox.

Is this the beginning of the end?

I have Firefox and I can see the comments. Top Voted and Recent.

Maybe you should restart your computer? I have both chrome and firefox open, and both work fine. It was probabal just a glitch that they fixed, you know, like the avatar glitch 2 months ago.

IE on the completely not work computer and I cannot see the comments.

I could see them earlier, I even declared that shit was working in the poll, but now they've been taken away. A worse crime has never happened.

I checked again on Firefox and on Chrome and they were gone. On other articles, the comment section does appear.

At the end of the article, it says the comment section is disabled. I don't care that they disabled, but I wonder why they disabled for this article and not for, say, the sex slavery article. Unless the comments from that article resulted in the comments being disabled in this, then that's understandable.

That's what it says. The comments didn't look all that bad to me. Not worse than usual, anyway. The assholes who get downvoted until they drown in red thumbs were there, but most comments were sympathetic. I understand why you'd disable comments on an article like this, but I don't understand why this particular comment section needed to be disabled. They have other articles that could inspire vitriol and shitty comments.

Regardless, I hope this isn't going to be an on-going trend.

I don't think the victim blaming is the reason why. I suspect they shut off the comments because they don't want MRAs to use this article as a platform to criticize feminism.

I still have a problem with that. Especially if the comments weren't any worse than usual. But I mean, who knows, maybe they were aggressively deleting bad things before we could see them.

Still, it really bothers me to put this message out, and then not allow public comment on it. It's one brave thing, and I admire their bravery on it, but then they immediately hide. It makes it seem less legitimate, or like they take it less seriously.

Yes, because only assholes would get pissed at the fact they can't post something in the comment section. Not men who have been raped who may want to tell their stories, not women who want to state their support for male victims, not people who haven't been raped, but wish to state that this is a real problem and needs to be addressed. No, only trolls and dicks are mad.

It really pisses me off that the comments are closed. And not because I'm a dick. There's a good chance I wouldn't even comment.

Again, if there's a lot going on behind the scenes where they had to struggle to keep out really shitty people, moreso than any other article they've ever run, I guess I can understand, but they didn't need to word it like that.

Well, I guess they learned from the zoe quinn article about the kind of people these articles draw. And I don't blame them, there was a guy keyboard screaming at me for daring to suggest that it's okay for men to react emotionally to trauma.

Yep. They've been disabled here and we're going to pick and choose articles going forward where we're pretty sure the comment sections would do nothing but expose the interview subject to abuse.

It was the "girl sold into sex slavery" comments that sealed it, so, so many people had to be banned for asking for pics of the girl and talking about how she deserved it, etc, that we figured we needed to start making this an option. Before that, we had the Zoey Quinn column in which (until it was removed) the top voted comment was simply calling her a cunt.

We're hosting these comments, and broadcasting them to the world. They become a part of the site's content. So going forward, we need to as a site be more responsible about keeping the poison out.
