Gawker.com is closing down. Gawker Media, its parent company, was bought out by Univision recently. Univision will continue to run Gawker's six other sites (Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Jalopnik, Deadspin, Jezebel, and Kotaku).
This is directly tied to Peter Thiel's support for Hulk Hogan's lawsuits against the site for releasing a sex tape of Hogan. Thiel reportedly assisted because of an article Gawker published an article declaring him to be gay without evidence.
