Checking In /Still Alive

Postby Malfeasinator » Thu Aug 28, 2014 3:57 am

I'm making a thread for people who have had a lot going on in their lives but don't know how to properly decompress it all or defrag the old mental hard drive, and just want to let others here know that they're still alive.

Maybe we'll get lucky and hear back from ButtChocolate some day.

Anyway, this is me: Still here, motherfuckers.

Hi, I'm still alive!

Oh wait, I never left.

I just wanted an excuse to post this song.

Anyway, I heard Butts is really busy. Sucks, but I guess work and family are more important than internet. In theory, anyway.

There are a bunch cool people who have left. One of the first to come to my mind is Phree. He was an enormous influence in starting TCS, and a nice person. And he hasn't been here in half a year.

I'm sad now.

Where is the thread for those of who us who check in quite often but stick to creepily watching people from afar instead of posting anything!

EDIT: Fuck it, I wanna post a song, too.

Whew, I thought BC might have been one of those Chicago homicide statistics since its been almost 9 months since he's been here.

And of course you're here Tesseracts. This is your universe. Everything here bears the imprint of your name. Were you to leave us and primum mobile go silent, your name would start to disappear from the lines of code and everything would fall apart, people would give up all hope, we'd have to shoehorn ourselves into a newer most likely inferior universe, we'd suffer significant losses and... does this sound familiar to you? Comic reference!

OMFG Australia is our Mazikeen! Look at the face! Look at the face!

Yeah whether you're driving your burning pink el camino through the tin walls to safety after escaping the ninja death squad your long lost step-father sent to take you out of the picture so he can inherrit all of Auntie Maggie's fortune himself or just logging onto a website you haven't been on in a while, this is the only way to fly!

I was way too out of my gourd to really tell the tale of where I've been and what I've been up to lately.

My brother moved out of the house. That was an interesting experience. It actually went down nicer than the last time he moved out, and we didn't even have to call the cops.

I don't know if I'm some kind of secret master manipulator, but all I did was just listen to him and hang out with him, and he came to the idea on his own. Everything worked out for the best. Being nice does get results, sometimes.

Anyway, after that, there was this Florida trip. My good friend, the man who made me best man at his wedding, got me a plane ticket and hosted me at his place for two weeks. It was good and bad. Things didn't go the way we wanted them to go sometimes, and there were screaming kids to deal with, and I had to watch some Disney movies and eat more junk food than I'm comfortable admitting, but it was alright.

The part that sucked the most was finding out that my grandma had been sick and in the hospital, and was coming home for hospice care. I had to find out from my brother because everyone else kept it a secret. They didn't want to ruin my good time with bad news. Later that night, I heard from my Mom that grandma was dead. She'd died in her sleep.

I still don't know how I feel about that. I miss her, but more than anything, I feel relieved. I'm not sure if that makes me a bad person.

Anyway, I know I went to Florida at exactly the wrong time of the year. Heat index was like 110 one day and I decided to go for a walk. Twenty minutes later I felt like a vampire caught outside after sunrise. I made a beeline back to the house, drank the equivalent of a small stream, and tried to summon frost golems with the air conditioner.

I took a lot of retarded pictures. No pictures of people, just weird stuff on the way. Weird stuff at Goodwill, even. I could probably craft some interesting fictional story out of the pictures somehow.

Anyway, this picture should sum up everything that's right and wrong about Florida at the same time:

Not at all. Sad stuff below-----

Spoiler: show
My grandmother was kept alive for a few days which was 100% against her wishes so while she was ambulatory and coherent mere days before I was totally relieved when I got the news that she had finally passed. My parents and sister thought and probably still think I'm heartless for not openly weeping when finding out but I had my grieving session when she lost consciousness. It was my uncle's decision to keep her on support for those few days and I don't fault him for not wanting to let his mother go. But dammit. And I won't remember her how she was in the hospital because its the last thing she would've wanted and I've known that since I was a child.

And that's why you don't click every spoiler tag.
