This'd be my back-up theme song music, in case the first ever shorts out on me-

Donna Donna is a pretty good choice - which is why it's in my sig. So is We Are by Ana Johnsson.

I don't always live up to these songs, but then Sailor Moon does, at times, run from real fights, Edward Elric looks back not "never" but quite frequently, and Caroline's place in Echo isn't quite "already gone", so for theme song purposes it's good enough.

(It is, however, an incontrovertible fact that you can't take the sky from Malcolm Reynolds.)

It's the spoopiest month of the year, so what better time for thread necromancy? I wanted to post something here the last time it was active, but nothing seemed to really fit. (Phrasing.) Today I remembered that this song existed, though, and it's lifted my mood a bit.

Great Big Sea is the best thing to ever come out of Newfoundland as it is, but this song is about the kind of attitude I'm trying to work towards - accepting that nothing I do will ever be perfect, and that it's okay to struggle.

...although when that's too cheery for me, there's always this.

First time this was posted I wracked my brain for the perfect song. I knew it had to be a Warren Zevon song, but which one?

"Excitable Boy"? "Fistful of Rain"? "Lawyers, Guns, and Money"? "Splendid Isolation?" All have protagonists I can relate to, yet none seemed quite right, somehow.

This time around I realize that there's simply only one viable candidate. It's not one of his greatest songs, but it describes my life perfectly (well, if you leave aside the fact that my friends aren't Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen).

It's "(The Vast) Indifference of Heaven"

Well it would have to be a They Might Be Giants song, obviously. And since I so enjoy being a contrarian:

ALTERNATIVELY...

Honourable mentions are Cracked Hitler by Faith No More and Industrial Disease by Dire Straits.

EDIT: Because crazy, hard living people have too many songs to choose from.
