My sleep doctor told me to only nap using my cpap machine and to attempt a sleep schedule.

But I can't sleep with Nathan making all that noise, just turn the volume down already!

Update:

I could buy a $110, that's in Canadian, phono pre-amp by the Canadian company Fluance that's rather well liked as a mid-range speakers and turntable manufacturer. It's got a sub-sonic pass filter, that's a filter that cuts signal either below or above a set frequency; in this case below, that cuts out at 20Hz. So it won't effect low end sound as vinyl is designed to broadcast sound between 20Hz and 20kHz (just like CD's!) but should cut out the rumble that's creating the feedback in my system.

And I already turned down the volume!

Typical, I move out of Ohio for a year and it gets swallowed up by Lake Erie.

I just assumed it was annexed by Canada. Probably for the best.

Canada can have Michigan, it's a worthless state!

What did Canada ever do to you, Jamish, that you are willing to inflict Detroit on it?

In defense of Detroit can I first mention that the highly publicized 2004 "Malice at the Palace" in which a fan threw a drink on a basketball player and chaos erupted, technically happened in Auburn Hills. Also Flint has a bit of a water problem. Still. I also have seen advertised on a shirt that the entire city of Ann Arbor is a whore. I don't know how that works but it's pretty damning.

Other than that I got nothing, Detroit is a mess.

People from Ann Arbor have a hard time pronouncing "Annapolis."

My quaker parrot just laid an egg. This may seem like a minor thing, but I lost a lovebird to egg binding, and when I got her, this quaker started hormonal plucking, which is why I now limit her to twelve hours of daylight a day. Addressing this issue means that I need to go buy a calcium-supplemented diet, reduce daylight even further, and possibly buy a separate cage to separate the green-cheek conure. And until we go weeks without her laying eggs, I'll be worried about her dying of egg binding.

I'd reply but you need $5.00 for it. Sorry, paywall.

The Firefox extension NoScript breaks almost all paywalls, and a cookie-blocking extension breaks most of the rest. Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, and The Atlantic's subscribers-only content are the only websites I've found whose paywalls still work with these extensions.

Re: The rant thread.

So today, I find a notice of road closure taped to my door. Mildly annoying that they keep closing the most convenient road out of my complex, but OK, whatever. Except, it looks like from the map and description, they're closing a different road, and also access to my parking space (and seven others). OK, so I have to move my car for a day or two, that's a lot more annoy— three fucking weeks!?

As compensation, they're offering a gravel lot, four blocks away, only it's more, because the most direct walking path also goes through the closed road. But the big problem is that it's across a major street, at a light where I have never managed to get a walk signal before jaywalking. I've timed it a couple times before jaywalking when cars are clear, and the longest I've ever waited (from the time I pushed the button) is four minutes without a walk signal. Also, unlike my current parking situation, this entire lot has absolutely no shade at any time of the day, nor does a big part of the only ways to get to it.

I don't see why they need to close our private road and part of our private lot in order to do their construction, but the replacement parking is entirely unacceptable. So, too, is the amount of notice I was given. I don't check my front door all that often, there was a good chance I would have missed it, and what then? And why the fuck did they wait until almost June before making us walk four blocks with almost no shade, to parking that has no shade?

They wanted to time it with the release of Mario Maker 2 featuring the return of the angry sun from SMB 3?
