Your Theme Song

Discussion, in general

There actually is a song for my name (Clapton's "Layla", slightly different spelling), but I don't really like it. Which is why, when I found this, I knew. I have a highly developed ability to fake myself out (and very much recommend doing the same), which easily includes no clues as to any changes in my appearance in the last 30 yrs.

I thought I'd posted on this years ago, so now I have to think really hard about my choice.

The thing is, I don't know if the song I pick is supposed to describe me, or my mood, or just serve as a leitmotif. There are whole playlists I've made throughout my life that would comprise its soundtrack as well as many other aspects surrounding it, but I've never really thought of something that would suits myself.

I guess this would do in a pinch

Or perhaps this, which doesn't require a translator

Except... I'm not a musician.

Let's see...

I think this song comes pretty close

I may be missing some detail here...nah.

Yeah, I think I found it.

Leaning towards more of something like this nowadays-

Only a, you know, more man-ish version. But the basic spirit is there.

this song got me 14 years ago when I bought the album. it still does
lyrics
Floating, but gasping for a breath
Paying through the nose for every bit of air
Strapped and bleak
Where's the feast in feast or famine

Strapped and bleak
Who stole the peak
From the valley

When's it coming next
When's the next respite
The next deep breath

Strapped and bleak
Where's the feast in feast or famine
Where'd it go

There's not a lot to go around
There's just the hope for next time
Yeah right

So here's the ration, make it last
Don't be surprised if it disappears fast
Too fast

It's the view from the surface
Not above and not below

It's great not to worry
It's great to fake it for another day
It's great not to worry
But that would mean breathing
Easy once again, again

Don't count on it again
Or on anything

Strapped and bleak
Where's the feast in feast or famine

Strapped and bleak
Who stole the peak
Where'd it go

This song is probably older than I am, but it sums up my life philosophy pretty well!
