My vocabulary is apparently from Mobile, Birmingham, and Montgomery. I'm not quite sure how y'all is specific to Birmingham but my results are pretty funny. I might have similar vocabulary, but several people have told me my accent is barely there.

Hahaha, silly sellers. The French hate the US waaaaaay too much for that. Every single class I've ever had made a point to teach us the Queen's English and nothing else. (also, they were terrible teachers and plain didn't know how to speak English. I mean, I was the one asking for directions on our school trip in Edinburgh)
Since I'm self-taught, I've been having problems with this to this day. For example, my phonetics class only treats UK English. That's not the teacher's fault this time though, she just specialized in UK English. But there's practically no way she'd have ever been a US English specialist in France, because of the heavy bias we have up to high school.

I'll never tire of saying this: fuck the French school system when it comes to teaching languages and fuck diphthongs.

So basically if you ever meet the rare French who know how to correctly speak English, there's a high chance they'll have a Londoner accent. As for me I just have a weird one.

I got these results, which is pretty much on the nose. I was born and raised on Long Island, went to college in Queens, and have been living on Long Island since graduation, so the island being deep red for my map makes sense.

What I'm surprised by is the fact that Mary, merry, and marry being different pronunciations seems to be strictly a lower New York/Massachusetts thing (at least according to the quiz). I'd always pronounced those words differently, but then again, I've always lived in the same two-county area.

Huh. It turns out I am from Rochester/Upstate New York.

Actually, I'm from the East Coast of Canada. Had the asked how to pronounce "milk" (it comes out as 'melk'), and what you call sliced of roasted lamb wrapped in a pita with sweet sauce and onions and tomatoes ("A Donair"), and how you pronounce "undone" ("ondonne"), they'd have had me.

Mine was a mix of Colorado Springs, Irving, TX, and Overland Park, KS.
Mostly because I use the term "frontage road", all high speed roads are highways, and an easy class is a "blow-off" class.

I got Yonkers, Jersey City and New York City in that order, all based on the same question. Judging from the map I don't really sound like any American, go figure.

I speak Los Angles, Salt Lick City, and Honolulu. This disgusts me as I was hoping that I would break the system and it'd say "You have no accent! How is this?! Argh! I'm melting!!"

Of course it knew where I was from.

Only people around Houston call the road that feeds into the interstate a feeder.

Why is it all about road features I've never heard of? Why do Americans have so many words for these things?

We love our cars. I want to know what the deal with Europe, is.

The only reason someone should lack a car is because they're poor. And even then it should take at least five hours and three bus transfers to get downtown, so they have plenty of time to think about the terrible life choices which lead to them being unable to afford a car.

But in Europe, your affordable fast trains and nice buses mean it's often easier to go without a car, and even middle class people often ride take public transit. Why you would chose to do that to your decent, middle-class taxpayers I have no idea.

Also, our country is just really really big, so having a car just makes sense to us. You expect me to take a train to St. Louis? Nah, brah, I'm going to drive on the 70 for about 3-4 hours. In my car.

Indeed. If you take a train, you take out a book, open your DVD player, or put your head down to rest and suddenly you're there. Worse, you're rested and relaxed and completely off guard.

If you spend the same amount of time navigating traffic, flipping through radio stations, and flipping the bird at scary-looking biker dudes who cut you off, you're properly on edge and ready to take on a dangerous new city.

But you know the absolute worst thing about trains? They inspire people to write fucking folk songs.

Apparently, Miami/Honolulu, even though I've never even been there. Also, it's red in DC.

I've never been there of course... certainly not 3 years, 1 year in Arlington, 2 years in Bethesda...
