That's the definitive version of that song for me. Fantastic crescendo.

Title: Lord of the game

spoilered for brevity

The Animals were a force in the mid 60s. Hear that desperation?

Now let's add some off kilter beat and different singing:

Fear isn't so much a punk band as they are artcore. Yeah, I love 'em, but their music is more art than punk.

And another.

They might have been the first boy band, but this song is golden. Nearly every punk band covers this.
My favorite?

I enjoy Joe Cocker's version of With a Little Help From My Friends.

So, I just heard this for the first time, mere minutes ago.

I was actually about halfway through absent-mindedly listening to it before I realized what the song was. Changing the genre makes it an entirely different song, imo. An awesome song, sure, but not the same as the original at all.

I have gone down the youtube rabbit hole of Like a Version videos and here's some of my favorites.

Foals - Daffodils (Mark Ronson)

The video that started my obsession, this cover is sooooo fucking good.

Art vs Science - Enter Sandman (Metallica)

The beginning may sound a bit boring but it starts getting super funky about a minute into the song.

Just A Gent - Day N Nite (Kid Cudi)

Glass Animals - Love Lockdown (Kanye West)

Smoooooth.

E^ST - Bitter Sweet Symphony/Teardrop

This cover just sounds so pure.

Well E^ST owes Massive Attack 50% of their CD sales for covering Bittersweet Symphony. :)

Idk but there's some cover of Man In the Mirror that plays at my store and it makes my soul ache to where I wish the universe was never created. You know at the end when Michael's all screamy with his "WOOO! WOOO! WOOO!"? It sounds a lot worse when you read those lyrics as "woo. woo. woo." and actually say them as "woo" like you're about to follow up with "tang" instead of how Michael lets loose vocally. I swear I'm going to make my phone listen the next time I hear it so the culprit can be identified and an appropriate punishment can be applied.

I know it's not right to take the heartfelt emotion of music, and turn everyone against its sincerity by just posting joke songs, but I really can't help it that all songs are massively better when they are bluegrass:

Hillbilly Moon Explosion - Enola Gay, originally by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Iron Horse - Fade to Black, by Metallica

Iron Horse - One, by Metallica (there's a whole album of these, by the way)

Pickin' On Series - The Kids Aren't Alright by the Offspring

Did I ever post Jack Off Jill's version of Love Song by The Cure? I likely did? Oh. Well, too bad. In order to cover all the bases I'm posting it again.

Also here's Smashing Pumpkins doing Transmission by Joy Division.
