4 Superheros that can save the genre.

You know what sucks is that i could actually really enjoy these, 'Off beat superhero movies' articles, if they all didn't insist that superhero films are a soulless dying husk.

The "Marvel will fail" articles don't beat a dead horse, they rape, burn, shoot, mutilate, devour, stuff, mount, and throw jello on the dead horse, and repeat the process with 100 more dead horses.

But I kinda liked this article, so I'm conflicted.

Again, the idea of some of these is good (not the sentry though), particularly the Phantom. He was really big with Indians of my dad's generation and I know plenty of people here at least would like to see a Phantom film, what kills my buzz is the fact that every 'this movie is good' point correlates to a 'all the current one's suck point'.

If they had edited those mentions out (because I'm somewhat convinced they were thrown in during editorial, to be honest), the article probably would have been better.

"Save the genre", oh lord.

Shameless. And presumptuous.

I'm all for more interesting and varied fare out there, and its great that people have suggestions to make. But the genre is currently quite healthy and enjoyable, even if its currently on the crowded side. Variation is needed to be keep the genre from getting stale and make it grow creatively, not to rescucitate a corpse.

You don't need to tear down an existing genre or push the same "dying and doomed" narrative in order to advocate for improvement. Thats a false dichotomy.

I hate editorial narrative.

This just in, 7 Tentacle-Based Activities That Can Save Ceiling Squid.

What's that? You didn't know Ceiling Squid needed to be saved?

Well he won't need saving even more after these seven things.

I don't even know see how it will die until, at the very least, after Infinity War comes out. Last I checked, the reviews for Ant Man have approached a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I feel that it might get a bit higher. Age of Ultron was not as good as the first Avengers, granted, but it was still enjoyable regardless (it helps that a part of me knew it wouldn't live up to the hype, because they hardly ever do). Honestly, if you want diversity in superhero films, then make a fucking sequel to Unbreakable already.

or Dredd!

though Del Toro is working on a Justice League Dark (supernatural Justice League) film for DC, and much to my delight word is he is planning to cast Matt Ryan as John Constantine. Oh and DC are doing a Sandman film, so there's that

Also, they need to do a GOOD Spawn movie.

But if they make a Youngbloods movie, than I'm leaving this damn planet and moving to Pluto.

I think it would be awesome if they would make a Deathstroke or Lobo movie. Or maybe even a Nightwing or Red Hood movie. I would also be fine with a Wonder Woman or Supergirl or Superboy movie. A Teen Titans movie could be cool.

Both DC and Marvel have alot of characters who could be great movies if done right.

I don't know about a Teen Titans movie...they are working on a TV series for TNT, however.

The MCU/MTU could stand to use some Jennifer Walters or Angela Del Toro.

I believe I had heard that they were working on a Teen Titans Tv series. I might watch it, I dunno.

It's not gonna beat the cartoon, in my opinion. Tara Strong IS Raven and Hynden Welch IS Starfire, nuff said.

Agreed, the original Teen Titans Cartoon was awesome.
