4 Ways Life Is Different When You're a Giantess

Postby Arkyle » Wed Feb 25, 2015 6:35 pm

I just have to vent on this topic... I have a body fat percentage of 20%. For a lady of 34, that's in the "athletic" range, nevermind the normal range. I cannot shop in a boutique because I am "plus sized". Most stores have my size at the top end of their range, otherwise I need to head to the plus sized stores. Most people who see me in person guess I'm about a European size 8, when in fact I'm a 14. Go figure...

Although I do love my husband, he's around 2 cm's shorter than me, and doesn't give a toss if I wear killer heels next to him :)

Edit to add: And you try being a 1m80 woman who weighs around 75kg's. According to Hollywood I'm about 20kg's overweight!

I have to say I dated a taller woman and I wasn't turned into an asshole, no one was bothered by our relationship, and my sense of reality wasn't blown. Now if you don't mind. I have a pink unicorn to give a ride to so we can get some milk.

I was wondering if anyone would care enough about this article to make a thread here.

I mean c'mon she's only 5' 10"? I guess filler was needed.

Indeed. A 5'10" woman is hardly a "giantess" by any stretch of the imagination. Justin has a friend who's 6'7" and his 16-year-old daughter just passed the six-foot mark. Even so, Sandy Allen would have towered over her father by a whole foot and she's not even the tallest woman ever.

I don't have any problem with the author complaining about the challenges of being a taller-than-average woman, but using the word "giantess" in this case is a ridiculous exaggeration. Hopefully, they'll change the title of this article to something a little less hyperbolic.

Title has been changed from "giantess" to "tall woman." So they get the clicks from people thinking they're going to read about WNBA players palming watermelons at the supermarket, then suddenly the Cracked title guy sobers up and changes the title to the far less interesting "life as a tall woman" article.

Wait... wait... what?

Cracked changed their title to something LESS hyperbolic?

Oh, wait, I get it. The new title is "4 Reasons Being a Tall Woman Can Be Worse Than a Short Man" (emphasis mine). So now, it's obediently toeing the feminist line!

One thing I found really interesting was the point about men exaggerating their height so much that people are actually bad at guessing real heights.

When I tell people I'm 5'8", they frequently insist that I must be 5'10".
Some people will insist on measuring me, and then say in surprise something to the effect of "Wow, you're not even 5'8", more like 5'7 1/2"."
To which I'll point out that I'm actually 5'7 3/4", and demand that if they're going the fractional inch route, they be precise about it.

Ok, Cracked title/caption people both takes a lot of flak, and spares the authors some.

But who are they?

Looking through the article again, the word "Giantess" still gets used in the author foreword ("as Cracked's only resident giantess") and in the part about clothing for tall women ("specialized clothing for giantesses"), so as long as people actually read the article your pun won't be lost on them.

...people actually do read the articles, right? ...right?
