J.F. Sargent has acquired a reputation for being terrible due to some articles written years ago that shall not be mentioned. However, lately, I have noticed his articles are not terrible. This article is funny and informative. I especially like the part about caffeine not making you more creative, because artists are always drinking coffee and insisting that it's helpful. How dare they do something that doesn't even work?
Caffeine makes you focused, and focus is apparently the opposite of creativity. I've always seen my lack of ability to focus as a liability, even though my therapist tells me people with ADHD are more creative. Turns out, there is a study involving finding creative uses for a brick (a very important life skill) supporting the theory that a wandering mind leads to more creativity.
