She smiles. "Congrats Miles. Killing that ceorl in one strike!" But then one would hardly be surprised at the feat when they saw the knight. Just then the boat rides an almighty wave, and Terrwyn grabs onto the knight between her and Miles. "Erm, stupid boats. Sorry Eliver," she mutters, and lets go, looking down at where she felt something cold on his hand. Huh, was he wearing that ring before? It's so cheaply made too. Eh, who knows. She busies herself with watching where they make landfall.

Oy! You lot haven't left yet.

New loot system I've been working on.

Whatever equipment the person had on them, + horse(s).

Trinkets found on a 1d6 roll.
1-3 Coins
4-5 Trinket
6 Coins and a Trinket

Coins rolled randomly by type.

Type A (Peasant, Rogue, Bandit, Ceorl)
Coins: 1d20-1 farthings.
Trinket Value: 2d6 x 2 denarii

Type B (Warrior, Commoner, Mercenary)
Coins: 3d20-1 denarii
Trinket Value: 2d6 x 10 denarii

Type C (Knight, Thegn, Rich Merchant)
Coins: 12d20-1 denarii
Trinket Value: 4d6x 25 denarii

Is this when raiding them or meeting them in battle? I can see people wearing their trinkets to a fight but they don't usually carry their coins. If anything that's back in the camp with their valets.

I think 1d20d is way to much for a peasant as well.

I like the idea of trying to standardize things though. The way I've done it most successfully is a formula for how much you get from a raid.

I use the Knight Value system from the core book and say you can loot your KV from a 10L manor when you raid it. If you pillage you double, plunder triples and ravaging quadruples but each step up also increases the effort/time by an order of magnitude.

Raiding is fast, it takes a few hours at most. Pillaging takes at least a couple days and Plunder takes a week while Ravage takes a month. Assuming you do it alone of course. If you bring laborers then bodies make the work faster since its more than you hunting down the hiding people and having your squire load everything into stolen carts.

This is for meeting them in battle. I should specify that the Peasant here is Villein level or richer, however you're probably right that 1d20 is still a bit too high.

As to why they have money on them, people have to travel to go to war usually. There's no such thing as banks or credit for common people, unless you're leaving it all buried under the fireplace, you need to have it somewhere, safest place is on your person. In the case of these Ceorls, practically most of them don't live in these towns, they're visiting the markets, hence carrying money when the alarm when up. I'll ammend it to 1d20-1 farthings. And if anyone complains about getting less loot now, they know who to complain to :)

Also that page is severely outdated.

According to it, 1 pound supports 24 commoners for a year, whereas in 5.1 and Estate, 1 pound supports 2 adult villeins and 3 children.

Fair on treasure. And if they complain about not getting enough loot from rabble then they are false knights and I invite them to protest with their swords!

Courtesy of Scarik, starting next year we'll be doing Passions differently.

When invoking a passion:

Crit: Inspired +20 to all skills.
Success: Inspired +10 to all skills.
Failure: Blinded by Passion -5 to all skills.
Fumble: Maddened by Passion -10 to all skills.

Come on raiders, the ambassadors have done about three rounds in the time we've done one!

You're still in combat: I don't think you can do that immediately. Scarik or Funko will be along to correct me at some point.

Emrys is coming to help, and I think (but am not certain) he's close enough to reach you before the next round, in which case you have the option to Evade instead of Attack, meaning the knight needn't attack you. He could still choose to, and you'd have to respond, and be at a (greater) disadvantage, but I doubt he would because
a) the Sky Person wants you to live and
b) the knight would be ill-advised to do so - he'd have to split his skill and you are, let's face it, no real threat right now.
I'm not certain whether that allows you to back off from the combat so you could ride after Persi the following round. I'd guess it does but you'll have to consult the rulebook or one of our two experts.

Or you can Attack again - I presume you would continue to defend - if you want to. The primary benefit of this is that it would split the knight's skill and so give Emrys a bit of an advantage, but it puts you at a little more risk.

On the off-chance Emrys can't get to you immediately, you'll probably have to defend yourself for one more round, while re-arming, but I don't think that's the case.
