Renier, Ragnar, Coenwulf

The flooded wood is not even waist high and lies below the withers of their rouncies such that they can cross without getting more than splashed.

Since he was detected the old man doesn't try to hide but beckons them onto the island. They find a well used path rising out of the water that leads to a clearing containing a hermit's shack and garden.

"Good day to you, Sirs," the hermit says in a voice he does not use much, "What brings such fine persons out to this rude place?"

Dagobert, Leufroy, Adele, Rashad, Shadi

The main flaps of the pavillion are cast open and the sides are raised a hand to allow the wind to circulate as it is a fine spring day. Inside the fire is smothered and a kettle sits idly atop it.

Outside there are frames for lances with several jousting tips among them as well as other arms as would befit a challenge knight's camp. There is neither knight nor steed to be seen still. Instead the inside contains a lady and a maid. The lady is plays a lap harp until the knights get to the top of the hillock and then she pauses and comes to greet them.

She is a great beauty, as is her maid who must be her sister, and is dressed modestly in practical clothing for travel. The fabrics and fashion of it are expensive and in recent style as well with a wide hemmed skirt cut to allow riding astride (as Lady Ermeline does) and a high neck decorated with embroidery.

As she steps into the sunlight the designs on her collar and bodice resemble gems and are made of dark, green thread. And behind her, in the back of the pavilion is a tapestry showing a coat of arms:

Sable, a mirror vert in saltire with four gemstones vert.

Rosamund

"The wolf packs?" The goblin looks as though he's about to sneer, before noticing the way the hound is eyeing him. "I'll tell you what I know, so's long as you promise it'll be a big head start."

He licks his lips nervously, looking around and swallowing heavily. "The wolves are under the sway of a man, with a furry mantle. He tells 'em what to do." For a second it seems the goblin is staring just behind the knight, giving an almost imperceptible nod before continuing. "The wolves weren't as bloodthirsty before he came along." The implication being that taking out the man in control might be enough to stop the attacks.

"Any idea who this man is, or where he may hide?" asks Rosamund, stroking Hecate's flank.

Rosamund

The urge to lie was strong, but the goblin had the sneaking suspicion that he wasn't getting out of this alive regardless of what he said. Therefore, he went with the truth. "I got no idea, it's just a man. They're everywhere these days."

Rosamund nods, and draws her knife. "One more question, where is your lair?"

Rosamund

The goblins' eyes widen, assuming he knows what the knight intends to do upon hearing his answer. Much as he doesn't want to sell out his fellow goblins, the hounds' teeth look rather pointy, and he's still hoping for one hell of a head start. "Down the path towards the village, Esneux the humans call it. There's a small path leading up into the heavier woods, hardly visible to non-goblins. We hide in the caves near there."

As soon as he finishes speaking, the goblin tenses up, preparing to make a run for it. Before Rosamund can ask anything further, the goblin vanishes, the binds falling to the ground in a heap where he was once standing.

"Ten...nine...eight...seven...six" Rosamund collects her effects as she counts down, and gives the hermit six deniers for his trouble. She doesn't intent to finish the count. "It's just one thing after another, isn't it girl? Come along then, I don't know for certain if we'll be able to get the kobolds their tools back with the sun up, and I'd rather not tarry around here a full day." With that, they head off to the caves of Esneux.

"We hunt a fierce wolf, elderly one, who we have cause to suspect might sometimes walk in human skin," Ragnar says good-naturedly. "But we would also welcome news of our companion, the lady Rosamund, who was with us when our quest started but has since vanished without a trace."

Shadi dismounts to bow to the emerging lady, straightening and smiling.

"Fair lady, your skill with the harp is rivalled only by your beauty," she says. "I am called Sir Shadi, may I ask whom I have the honour to address?"

The displayed arms is not from Ardennes though it follows Frankish rules of blazon.

ADDED: Dagobert and Leufroy should roll Faerie Lore since they passed the Heraldry roll.
