Coenwulf, Ragnar, Renier
It's dark and Esneux is half a day off so the villeins offer the use of the cattle barn to the knights. Its the only building that can accommodate horses. It has an adjoining common house as well that the villagers use when the weather is cold to save on firewood.
They keep the sheep and goats inside with them these days for fear of the wolves. Normally they would only do that when the weather grew cold, both for themselves and the animals.
Taking the offer they bed down for the night.
Its just before midnight when Renier stirs and thinks he heard voices. He checks and it seems it was nothing, all is quiet and dark.
In the morning, as they ready to leave, several men approach them. At their head is none other than the pilgrim they met a day ago.
"Forgive me, good sirs," the pilgrim says, "My deception before was not born of malice, but of caution. There are bandits about in these woods and fae beasts besides, but the worst monster of all is Sir Eingar of Eingarkeep. He is a Godless man who consorts with the devil and he will surely seek to hinder your good cause. "
