TCS Write-Off September 2015 - Reading and Voting

Postby Marcuse » Sun Sep 20, 2015 9:07 am

Well here it is; the first TCS Write-off submissions have been reproduced in a randomised thread and can be found in the link below:

Snip

Remember you may vote by thumbing, and may vote for as many pieces as you choose to. Avi has added a confirmation message as you cannot revoke a vote you have cast.

For the sake of transparency, I have allowed one submission which was submitted slightly over the word limit to be resubmitted slightly later than the 11pm cut off, having had sufficient content cut to bring it in line with the word limit. This was due to personal circumstances.

Please remember all submissions are anonymous, let's avoid trying to circumvent that by attempting to find out who wrote what. Discussing the pieces as they are presented though, is fine. But I'd remind people to be kind with their criticism.

Otherwise, enjoy reading and voting, and may the best piece win!

Hot DAMN those were good. I enjoyed reading every single one, and choosing which ones to vote for was unexpectedly difficult. This community never ceases to amaze.

Superb work all around! I'm sad that I didn't get to flesh out my idea in time to submit it, but I'm also kind of intimidated, because these are all so much better than what I could have churned out.

When are we supposed to have read and voted for submissions by? I don't want to budget my time to read these and figure out by the time I've finally gotten around to the last one I've missed the cut-off date.

You have two weeks from yesterday to read them. Basically, when the announcement disappears then it'll be over.

Not entirely satisfied with the state of my entry I'll admit, but I got one in and that at least makes me happy. Whether I win or not, I'll probably go back later, flesh it out and smooth over some rough patches.

But yeah. Hot damn those are some good entries.

I would totally buy these stories collected in a leather bound book full of hidden gateways to unspeakable horrors and eldritch abominations.

Well, finished the last few today and I know which ones I'm voting for.

Great set of submissions all around, but given that this is a contest, I couldn't thumb them all up (well I could, but it would be rather self defeating. When all was said and done, there were three that caught my eye-one for the sake of concept, one for atmosphere and one because, frankly, it made me giggle like a drunken idiot.

Just a reminder to everyone that you have a handful of minutes over one day to vote on the contest submissions, so if you haven't already, get reading!

I will also be announcing the next contest on the 4th October, so keep your eyes peeled!

I still haven't voted. I expect I'll get it in fifteen minutes before the deadline, like I did my submission.
