Bill Burr had a bit about getting up to heaven and at first thinking it's awesome. Hey, I just have to wait for my friends to die and we can all hang out together. Then after awhile, you start wondering where your friends are and after few decades or a century it finally starts to sink in that those guys didn't make it. How much would it suck to try to enjoy heaven while all your friends are burning in hell.

I think that's what some of these people are afraid of. This guy's family loved him, but thanks to their sick, twisted worldview, all of this crap was justified cause otherwise, he's going to hell for eternity and they won't get to be with their son in the afterlife. I'm glad my family belonged to one of the sane church's that received Chick tracts rather than handed them out.

For those of you outside of America who may not know what a Chick tract is, it's these comics from Jack Chick that you'll find laying around in various places by crazy people. If they're extremely hateful bigots, they might place them in the pews of Catholic churches or Jewish temples. Here's one on homosexuals. http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0273/0273_01.asp

How is doing the Lord's work not worthwhile?

I personally prefer the chick tract that said D&D was all about the Satan.

I like the idea that pray away the gay camps are making gays more and more fabulous overtime.

If they continue, old boots and jeans and shirt me will be more fabulous than dancing he-man.

I may be mistaken, but I thought that everyone in hell would eventually go to heaven, down to the last man kicking and screaming not to go. I cannot remember where I heard that from.

Different churches believe different things.

The churches I went to, which are all firmly behind the idea of these camps, does not. You go to hell forever. That's why I rejected God at a very young age, since no finite crime can be fairly punished with an infinite punishment.

I came up with better reasons later.

Not sure which faith that is. The Quakers. Damn hippie Quakers and their delicious hippie oatmeal. You're half Mexican right? You're probably thinking of Catholic Purgatory. In Classic Catholicism, there's hell for the really bad people. You know...Jews and such. Purgatory is for the average schmuck that just needs to suffer a little bit for being a douche, then he goes to Heaven.

I was a Mormon for a long time, because I felt of all religions, theirs made the most sense.

That says a lot about how stupid most religions sound.

Not how they are, mind you. Faith is great and such. Just...

God some of the stuff they say is silly.

But yeah, Mormons are cool. Their idea of afterlife is actually fascinating. And you pretty much have to [horrible blasphemous statement removed] in order to have no chance of redemption. I think there are like, maybe three people tops that are going there right now, and they aren't even there yet.

I find it amusing to make up things like an adventuring party containing a Tiefling Warlock and a Paladin of some Lawful Good deity.

well the Quakers and all the early forms of Christianity, in those Lucifer is referred to as the Adversity, it was that of Sin, he would torture sinners for a set amount of time depending on their sins in hell before they could go to heaven, and early Christian artwork shows him and hell to be an essential part of the reality, it was later Popes and people who reinterpreted the bible who linked Lucifer to the Serpent (who is just that, a snake who just so happens to be a massive wanker) and removed the part about going into heaven after hell and that one stuck as it makes for better propaganda instead of, in my opinion, a better story
