I've supported precisely two things in my life through patreon or kickstarter. Most people I've seen that rely on such means havent been consistently entertaining enough for it to warrant my money to me. So it says something about just how much I've enjoyed them over the last few years that if this were to happen, I'd have to add a third.
On a quasi-related note, not to be a harbringer of doom, but this really does feel like Cracked is on its last legs. I'm not trying to tell anyone how to live their lives, but... Well, dalek, Mr Fudge, any other people here that might contribute, I encourage you to keep your options open and look at what else might be out there in the event that things do go, to borrow a fictional colloquialism from a favorite author, wahoonie shaped. I know you're all a bunch of strangers I've met through a secondary site based off of the comment section of a comedy site based primarily on list based factoids and dick jokes, but I've grown oddly attached to you lot and would rather not see anybody left out in the cold.
I don't claim to intimately know the internal workings of the site or have access to its spreadsheets, but between the move towards subscription based content and the firing of its oldest and most loyal/well known talents, it's hard not to feel like Cracked isn't on the sturdiest of footing at the moment, and short of some major overhauls, I'm not sure I'm optimistic about that state improving.
If I'm right, well, even after some of the ways things have soured in my opinion, I am grateful for the site and will be sad to see it go. I owe many a laugh to Cracked, and have learned things I'd never even have thought of to ask about on my own. I've had my horizons broadened, my viewpoints challenged and most importantly, made several friends.
If this is indeed the beginning of the end, then I don't relish it, but nothing lasts forever.
So long, and thanks for all the fish laughs.
