If you freeze fresh breast milk right away, it can be stored for months before going bad. I wouldn't be surprised if it would still be good if it was done through deep freeze.
There is a huge market of breast milk. Some women are unable to breastfeed for a variety of reasons. The baby might not latch properly, or there might have been medical complications preventing them from feeding early on, or the mother might not produce enough milk, or she might be a working mom who does not have time to feed or pump.
On the other end, some people produce way more than they need. Supply, meet demand.
We had a huge stockpile of extra milk when my daughter was nursing. We had planned on either selling or giving away the milk once my daughter was weaned, but we ended having to throw it away because of a power outage causing it to spoil.
