Which Mrs.? Maple or your mom?

And yes, it's a thing, but I've only ever seen it in furniture colors.

While I am aware the existence of this thread is a harsh reminder of the sad state of affairs in our society today, it is also a great opportunity to remind everyone that colour blindness is much more common in men than in women.

Please help me raise awareness about this in order to spare millions of women from the disappointment of trying to get home decorating advice from their significant others and being met with only blank stares. For the sake of aesthetics everywhere, please donate today and receive a bonus tote bag in your choice of chartreuse, magenta or periwinkle.

I've actually been confusing people by calling the color of my Prius "chartreuse." But calling it "green" just seems wrong, and it's too muted for lime.

I ASKED WHAT COLOR A WALL WAS AND YOU INVENTED A WORD. YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE SHIT UP WHEN SOMEONE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT SOMETHING LOOKS LIKE. COLORS AREN'T THAT FUCKING HARD TO DESCRIBE.

Apparently I'm going to need to start carrying around a reference sheet of HTML colour codes when we're decorating our place so you know exactly what I'm talking about in that case. It's good to know in advance, I guess. How about a nice 99CCCC for the living room?

Holy shit, an objective way to reference colors? That anyone can understand? What a novel fucking concept! Almost like you can just say bluish-yellow, or brownish-purple and people will know what the fuck you are talking about. And you don't have to say shit like taupe and expect people to understand your bullshit.

Sooooo...green? I mean, if you're really set on describing colours in reference to how they relate to other colours, you better be ready to apply that logic to everything else in life. Also, the next time you get up, please bring me a cold drink from the box that's sort of like an indoor glacier that doesn't melt.

Mauve was my favorite color in fifth and sixth grade. Now it's just regular purple.

Conversely, tetrachromacy is a thing in up to 12% or so of women.

99CCCC? Really? But then I've never really been into grey walls...

Anyway, I'm aware that there's a color called "taupe," but it always seemed like one of those ones that was close enough to something else that it didn't matter. It's any sort of brown-ish grey, right?

Tom and I have had lovely arguments about various colors and shades.

It's...fun.

And no, don't go with taupe. Too cold-unless it's a big room. Warmer neutrals are better for smaller rooms. Dove gray can be lovely with a lavender (not lilac) trim.

Thanks everyone, now I don't know what color my walls are and it. is. bother. ing. me.

Not once did I ever consider it. They're just walls and the color is neutral and inoffensive.

If it's some kind of off-white, just call it magnolia.
It's probably magnolia, or close enough that no-one can tell the difference. Magnolia is the standard for neutral and inoffensive wall colour.
