I showed this image to some people. I understood it after a few seconds, but most people seem to struggle with it a lot longer. In the spoiler I will tell you what the image is and explain why it appears so weird at first.

spoiler
Most people who see this think it's a deformed dog at first. This is how it appeared to me at first, but I knew I was seeing it incorrectly so I kept looking. One person I showed it to said it was a penguin, oddly enough. It's not a penguin. It is just an ordinary dog on its side. Click the spoiler to see the image flipped with the parts labeled.

The reason the dog appears deformed to most of us at first is because of pareidolia. Our brains are programmed to see faces when an image is unclear, and we expect to see faces right side up so the nose in this photo will appear to be an eye at first glance. There are other factors making this image confusing, such as the indistinct edge of the face and the unusual light patch in the center.

But is the dog brown and white or blue and gold?

...Also, the dog's ear (the one closer to the blankets) looks vaguely like it could be a tongue (albeit with a weird color). That doesn't help.

(Presumably, the only way to stop a bad guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law is a good guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law, and thus transgender-friendly privacy law rights need to be enshrined in the Constitution as well)

Am I the only one who struggled to realize that it was a normal dog with its head turn to a side, as opposed to a heavily deformed abomination?

I thought it might be what it was but was too lazy to stare and figure it out when the answer key was right there in front of me.
