Yeah, because we certainly didn't elect an authoritarian who is hurting us...

So what exactly has he done that's more authoritarian than our previous 3 presidents?

Well, since you asked...

Two political scientists from Harvard University have identified four warning signs that indicate if someone poses a dangerous authoritarian risk to a nation. No U.S. politician, at least dating back to the Civil War, has come close to ticking off all four boxes, one of the authors told Newsweek—until Donald Trump came along.

...

The four markers are:
1.Rejecting or showing weak commitment to democratic rules.
2.Denying the legitimacy of political opponents.
3.Encouraging or tolerating violence.
4.A readiness to stifle or limit civil liberties of opponents, including media.

It's true that Trump's authoritarian ambitions have mostly been thwarted by the kind of strong, independent institutions that a country like Turkey lacks, but a frustrated authoritarian is still an authoritarian. Erdogan just happened to be born into a more fertile ground for budding despots.

I am not more authoritarian! I'm more socialist.

Ok lets see.

1.Rejecting or showing weak commitment to democratic rules. - Remind me who's the one who's literally holding protests over the results of a democratic election, marching alongside sharia law apologists, literal murderers, and Weinstein.

2.Denying the legitimacy of political opponents. - Remind me who's indulged in russian conspiracy theories.

3.Encouraging or tolerating violence. - Remind me who wants war to continue in Korea to fail just so they don't have to admit Trump did something right.

4.A readiness to stifle or limit civil liberties of opponents, including media. - Remind me who wants to dox teenagers for making wrestling gifs.

Is "Trump would put us all in concentration camps if he could" really the best argument the great minds of TCS can come up with? Here let me try: Obama would turn us into a islamic caliphate if he could, thank god for the constitution.

Who gives a fuck if he's more authoritarian than previous presidents or not? I'm sure we've had more authoritarian presidents in the past. Like, say, Andrew Jackson, who Trump has a painting of in his office. That doesn't mean Trump isn't a Nazi.

Not to mention Trump has repeatedly praised Erdogan, including congratulating him on the rigged referendum this year that granted Erdogan broader power.

No siree, nothing unsettling about that.

Oh wow, a politician playing realpolitiks, that's like never happened before. Those people who think Obama was trying to turn America into an Islamic caliphate have better arguments than this. You should be used to this because you reside in a community that actively defends child rapists, sharia law, and terrorists. You can use this logic to imply everyone who defends the Bible supports slavery, everyone who follows the Quran supports stoning gays, but life just isn't that fucking simple.
