If you really want to get technical, all wage labor is tantamount to prostitution. You're temporarily selling your body for the use and benefit of another. Just because it's profit and not an orgasm doesn't make it any less objectifying. Your boss is actually and literally using your body and if you stop putting out a desirable performance with it, the money and favor will dry right up. Of course, this comparison will make some people very angry, because it amounts to me saying that you're no better than a whore - and you're not. Of course, this really only offends people who have a low opinion of whores.

Probably also people who have a high opinion of free actors engaging in labour transactions in a free marketplace.

And you don't count whores among those ranks? The truth is, most prostitutes are willing participants in their profession and don't appreciate being "rescued" by people who just can't make themselves believe that a woman would ever really want to have sex for money.

This appears to be another episode of "every political issue is actually about prostitution."

They do say it's the oldest profession.

Unsurprisingly, my point was more about the politics of labour than it was about prostitution. If someone has a high opinion of free market economics then they might be offended by a Marxist interpretation that denigrates it.

Also your impassioned defence of prostitutes also forms a counterargument to your own statement about wage labour, and forms its own critique of Marxism. If prostitutes are willing participants who need no rescuing, why do we need Marxism/communism to defend the rest of the working population from wage slavery exploitation?

huh... Didn't Marx once compare defending capitalism and labor relations as they are to cuckoldry? because, put like that, it'll be really awkward to get married and defend my wife's right to keep a job like that... Isn't working before you can get married and start a family a kind of Droit du Signor?

taking metaphors too literally hurts everbody. For $1 a day you can stop this.

Droit du seigneur is largely a myth, played up by pop culture because it makes for compelling drama.

Wikipedia wrote:There is no evidence of the right being exercised in medieval Europe, and all known references to it are from later time periods. Overall, medieval jus primae noctis can be considered a historical fiction fabricated after that era.
