Grimshaw's Summer is very, very pretty and I will go to swords with anyone who disagrees.

I fell in love with The Green Gown by Mostyn the moment I saw it <3

And I could never justify this post without some gorgeous Varma.

One of my favorite pictures, reminds me of the biblical tale of David and Goliath.
The greater they are, the harder they fall...

And I have another picture in my computer that has a strong affect on me and it is this one.

Young men were basi... Well it's...

Simply put. War is a terrible thing where many poor and young men are bunched together and die so it should be a powerful image regardless of your own religious/lack-of-religious beliefs, so I'll let you reach your own conclusions on what gives it that little extra "oomph".

This years Spectrum winners.

Spectrum is the most important contest for scifi and fantasy art. They publish a book every year of people who were good enough to get in the book. I've entered before but haven't won yet.

This is one of my favorites from this year.

A Special Pleader by Charles Burton Barber. I always admire paintings which depict emotions of animals well, because so few paintings do. This shows a dog who feels conflicted. The dog wants to comfort the girl being punished, but does not want to upset its master either.

Seriously though, my favorite artists are:

  1. Salvador Dali.
  2. John James Audubon
  3. John Gould
  4. John Gerrard Keulemans (noticing a pattern?)
  5. Ernst Haeckel
  6. Norman Rockwell

I'm going to post Audubon pictures, since I've been to the Audubon Museum. I've also been to the Dali Museum and Rockwell Museum (the latter many times), but the Audubon is the easiest to pick pictures from. I pick his paintings of certain extinct species.

And my favorite, the Carolina parakeet
