I think people are more likely to believe that because most people have at least heard that the seasons in Oz are opposite ours and it sounds plausible, what with Christmas originating as a pagan celebration of the winter solstice.

I figured I'd tell them it's a small, religious festival, celebrated only by an observant minority with quiet religious services. Possibly in August.

You say "New World Order" like it's a bad thing.

I have to go along with all this "reclusive genius" stuff... she's going to be very upset when she finds out I'm a reclusive wanker.

In the UK it's common knowledge that Aussies all celebrate Christmas with a barbecue on the beach, but maybe it'd fly in the US.

For the record, I don't know anyone who does that.

What's important is that everyone knows that Australians use the Julian calendar. Named after the patron saint of alcoholics everywhere, Julian of Trailer Park Boys fame.

english u so silly

Also beating somebody up and beating somebody down mean roughly the same thing, they're just degrees of one another.

You can beat me up but you can't beat me down.
On second thought you probably can't beat me up either, the internet protects me from all physical harm. ;)

If a tree falls in the woods and there are no pics, did it really happen?

So what's the deal with hairdressers, anyways? They're like barbers, but they don't do beards and cost twice-thrice as much.

So like everything is rebooted, reimagined, dredged up from obscurity from decades previous, etc.

Where's the Mr. Ed show/movie? It could easily be done with computers so no horses would have to deal with the pressurized schedule of shooting a TV series. Kids today don't even see Mr. Ed on Nick at Nite. Kids today don't even see Nick at Nite! Unless that's what the block containing Full House and Friends is considered

And it could be made by the same people who gave Archie a gritty, noirish reboot.

I notice that an answer I wrote to a question on Quora some years ago about advice for Americans moving to Brisbane has been getting an unexpected amount of attention lately.

I wonder if there is *cough* a reason for that.

Well, I did move to Brisbane last year. I can't help it if everyone loves me. All it takes is a little effort.

If we could somehow change the color of chlorophyll so that it was purple, would insect predators be able to identify those plants as food?

Now that he's not in office what do we call Obamaphones?

Because I'd imagine a Trumphone (the P is silent duh) would be ostentatious as all fuck.
