Doom (2016)
Two summoners in one area, uninstalled.
Seriously the first four levels of the game are a master class in game design. Level 5 introduced first person platforming with double jumps forcing you to climb without giving any sense of direction. I shouldn't have to consult youtube to find out where you want me to go next. The map loses all indicators once you begin to climb the tower. You're supposed to jump where green lights are but the janky ledge grab mechanic doesn't always work. It doesn't always work. Why the fuck would it not always work? So you can climb 5 stories again and cross your fingers that the game recognizes what you're doing?
Level six is just enemy spam. The second area in the level goes from weak undead to imps to two summoners, 3 fireshooty bois, and a minimum of 4 chargeybois with the two summoners bringing more with them. In less than a minute. I emptied out all my ammo multiple times, refill and still die endlessly. Summoners are way too OP. They only stay still for a split second and teleport while hitting you with laser fire. And they just spawn more enemies to fill the screen. No wonder the game is only $6 on sale. If the game was called anything but Doom it wouldn't have sold 100k copies imo.
I'll never bother with Doom Eternal because it puts even more emphasis on first person platforming. You can't see your feet, how are you supposed to judge jumping? Simple just be a sweaty ass Gamer and play all day long until you get the hang of it. Well I'm not living that life thank you very much. Back to Doom 64 which is actually fun to play.
“This is going to become a bad meme,” Todd observed.
