I cast my vote for Money for Nothing by the Dire Straits.

There once was a fellow, Big Bird
Whose comments were strange and absurd
Though he lived upside down
Like some New Zealand clown
He was totally our kind of nerd
This Limerick brought to you by the wonderful Orange, ah ah ah.

Oh, The Kinks. Michael gets an upvote.

A Warren Zevon fan. And he picks a classic. Upvote for LaoWai.

Fine then, you have to learn "Layla"

Or at least the acoustic version

Mind you, if you do Lola and not Layla, then you should do Zapp Brannigan's cover, "Leela", because apparently all our song suggestions are named "L[vowel]la"
.

The acoustic version?! Note to self: steal Aviel's newspaper.

Okay, fine. No need to yell.

Well, if Cobra can shoot a video, then do this shot for shot:

Otherwise, a Hunters & Collectors song would be cool. Edge of Nowhere or the more relevant

We're the biggest army the world has ever seen... right?

Hmm, Aussie said Freebird before I could. I think that makes us lifelong enemies. But he likes Men at Work so he can't be all bad. Upvote.

TheWomprat wrote:Since I'm fairly sure Bohemian Rhapsody is out, how about

How does a this song still sound like a cover of "She's Always a Woman" when they go so far as to make the lyrics about Cthulhu? Still, the lyrics are pretty clever. I'll give Womprat another upvote if he finds me a Lovecraft Mythos song that sounds like "Keeping the Faith". Heh. No I won't. No one likes "Keeping the Faith". Where are they trying him anyway, Oz?

Overlord Moo wrote:Jonathan Coulton's "Baby got back" cover

Okay, that's a pretty good cover. Still, I'd prefer something like "Code Monkey" or "I'm Your Moon". Upvote.

I would actually like this better if El Coytote sang it.

Big.bird wrote:I cast my vote for Money for Nothing by the Dire Straits.

Yeah, that's a good one.

Anyway, because I am an insufferable hipster, I recommend this song from the acoustic album of an Australian prog rock band that God himself hasn't heard of:

I'm not sure I get it. Oh wait, never mind. But the acoustic version is actually different melodically in this case.

Oh no, did I type that out loud? Hey, I'm sorry about the newspaper thing. It wasn't very good anyway, to be honest.

I've always liked the guy from Fun's voice, and this is nice and acoustic-y.

All right, two more ideas hit me:

"Skullcrusher mountain" (Another Jonathan Coulton song)

More Acoustic-y version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IBewKuV9BQ

I know that "A Boy Named Sue" is a classic, but if you're needing to get warmed up again, you should sing THIS thing that Coyote linked to in the Country thread:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=491&start=15#p12677

For the record, that's "God's Gonna Cut You Down". That's a rough ol' song.

Nobody will probably vote for this, but I'd love to hear you perform Jimmy Page's guitar work on Black Mountain Side.

The video also includes Your Time is Gonna Come.

Man created logic and because of that was superior to it. Logic He gave unto me, but no more. The tool does not describe the designer. More than this I do not choose to say. More than this you have no need to know.

Sorry, i know i already went, but this came on my iPod today and because this site is always on my mind, a lot of parallels in the lyrics (think the projected fall of the Cracked comments and the refuge of TCS) started connecting in my mind, because I'm a weirdo.

It may be a forced metaphor and overdramatise the situation a little but even if it's not Cobra's song, I'll still consider it one of TCS' theme songs. Because, and I cannot emphasise this enough, I am a weirdo.
