Nifty bioengineering accomplishments

One of the nice things about TCS is that pretty much all of us accept the scientific consensus that GMOs are no more dangerous than any other crops and present a lot of opportunities for substantial good, at least based on the thread we had on the topic.

However while golden rice is certainly awesome from a humanitarian perspective, what about stuff that's just cool?

I thought I'd start this threat for news of stuff that's just plain neat from the world of bioengineering. And I'll start with the (old) news that some Chinese researchers (because it's pretty much always the Chinese or Koreans doing the stuff that makes other people ask "don't you have better things to spend money on?") have produced pigs that don't grow over 33 lbs, considerably less than the 100-300 lb potbellied pigs people normally keep as pets if they keep pet pigs.
