So the four targets were:
Ted Cruz
Donald Trump
SecDef James Mattis
and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson?
The first two make perfect sense for a left-wing #Resist type, but then it gets weird. Mattis is the only reason many liberals can sleep at night with Trump in office. Richardson was appointed to that position by Obama, and he's Chief of Naval Operations, a relatively nonpartisan position. That makes it look like the attacker might have been reacting to US militarism or "imperialism", a bipartisan phenomenon. But if the gripe was against US foreign policy, why target Cruz? He's fairly hawkish, sure, but not more so than other folks in government.
"If it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them; but the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
