Stephen Hawking passed away

Postby Cobra-D » Wed Mar 14, 2018 5:03 am

Renown physicist Stephen Hawking passed away today according a family spokesman. He was 76.

Not much else is known at this time except the universe is a colder place at the moment .

I choose to be grateful that he outlived his prognosis by 50-something years and used that time to make such great contributions to the world. 76 isn't bad.

That really sucks.

On the bright side, that means I'm the smartest person on the planet now.

Losing Hawking feels like when we lost Bowie or Prince or Muhammad Ali -- he was so iconic he sort of felt immortal in his own sense, so it's shocking to realize he's just as mortal as the rest of us.

Especially when he got sick so young and for so long, yet lived a life probably far more fulfilling and rich than the rest of us could dream of. I'm sad he's gone, but man, what a life he had.

Stephen Hawking didn't die. He got decommissioned. Because robots get decommissioned.

Normally, the passing of a 76 year old man with ALS wouldn't be such a shock. I suppose it's easy to forget that behind the great accomplishments there was a very sick man, obscured by the magnitude of what he achieved.
The scientific community is going to honour him well, though, by naming badass cool shit after him possibly for years to come. That's how it goes when you inspire a generation of the world's most brilliant people.

I once had a chance to hear him give a talk and I DIDN'T and now I'm really sad about that.

that really can't be overstated. He vastly outlived his prognosis. It was incredibly.

It's very sad that he's finally gone.
