Yeah, linking to it more isn't gonna make it any more of an answer.

Then I can't help you any further. I've explained the answer as clearly as I know how to explain it. If you are still unable to understand it then you'll have to take my word for it, as other people don't seem to be having that issue.

Pov, that was not a very nice thing to say about Avi! (He didn't mean it, Little Bird - he's just tired and exasperated.) Anyway, having thoroughly elaborated my opinion, I'm going to take Pov by the arm and lead him to greener pastures. I love you and hope you get this worked out to your satisfaction, preferably without a bunch of PWoTesque rules and restrictions about what can and can't be discussed where.

Currently what we have is a situation in which nobody knows what we can and can't discuss. Clarifying that is of benefit to the users. You shouldn't have to guess whether what you're posting is or isn't against the rules, you should know. And as I've said many times before, if you have a better suggestion you are free to make it.

I think unless there's a specific development in those areas then they should be in Loud Noises. But if you have a specific story regarding those issues, they fall under politics and economics, and so can go in CAaSS.

You're giving us only half the picture, here. Relink your OP post all you want, but you're basically just sort of spouting off about something you think is a problem, but most of us don't see how that can ever be the slightest bit construed as a problem ever. You're just being needlessly smug and pedantic.

Currently we have a situation in which everyone can discuss anything (that isn't against our published rules). Clarifying where they can discuss it doesn't change anything. When someone posts something in the wrong forum, it gets moved to the right one. If it is a margin call and maybe people don't agree where it belongs, wherever it ends up it still gets discussed. Posting in the wrong forum isn't against the rules.

Except not really, because by your own admission you move threads around.

Clarifying where they can discuss it doesn't change anything. When someone posts something in the wrong forum, it gets moved to the right one.

The vagueness principle prohibits this until the standards are clarified.

Ligament brought to my attention in IRC a bigger problem actually, which is that I can't find any written basis on which moderators moving threads is justified. I've previously been told that moderators only moderate according to the rules, so where is this written?

You're equating moving threads with stifling discussion without demonstrating how.

I never drew that equivalence, but my question remains. From where in the rules or staff guidelines does the authority to move threads come, and under what conditions exactly will it occur?

Let's cool off a bit here. This thread is getting heated, and a lot of the posts are rather snippy. We don't have to agree, but we can all discuss this calmly.

Edit: There''s been some confusion, so I want to clarify what I meant. I'm not asking for anyone to take a break from posting in this thread, you're all free to continue posting. Right now this is intended more as a friendly, preventative reminder.

I tend to favor anarchy. Let people decide for themselves which forum is appropriate to put their thread in, and any excessive disruption that arises can dealt with on an ad hoc basis.

But you guys keep arguing about it, it's quite entertaining.
