Promoting This Site

Postby Beernpotatoes » Thu May 19, 2016 8:39 pm

Is anyone promoting this site? There's some great stuff on here. I've given it a shout out or two on some other forums, but I'd love to see this place take off.

I've whored the site out in the cracked comments a few times.

I've mentioned it to people and written it on their hands when they've passed on in bars.

I PMed about 5 people on Cracked one night after midnight. I got two responses and both were positive (although I haven't seen them around).

This tactic works. I first heard of this site after seeing it written on the hand of some dead guy whose watch I was stealing re-appropriating in the alley behind Frank's Bar and Grill.

Well, I can tell you from experience that knocking on the neighbours' doors and asking if they've heard of our lord and saviour Tesseracts will only get you a lot of weird looks and the odd restraining order.

Trying to win them over by leaving complimentary retro alarm clocks with the message "Time to visit TCS!" in unmarked boxes on their doorsteps also didn't go so well. I even wound the clocks up so they wouldn't have to, but all these ingrates did was scream something about terrorists and call the police. Whatever happened to common courtesy?

I friend ed a person last week and immediately told them about the site.

We'll see if they show up.

^Ahem^
Hello! Thank you for inviting me, mancityfooty! I love it here, I bet a lot of the people getting fed up with Cracked would love it too. I wasn't sure if I should mention you invitin me when I introduced myself here, so thanks for easing my mind on that.
Are there many Kansans on here?
First post on a forum ever, so forgive any bad manners on my part!

I suppose I could start leaving TCS fliers in people's cereal packets whenever I break in to steal the toy at the bottom. At the moment I usually replace it with a short comic about the bleakness and inherent injustice of life, or my critique of their choice of bedding materials and fabric conditioners, but if I could expense the printing costs I would happily include some promotional material for the site.

I may have wrote "Thecommentsection.org" on the wall of one of the bathroom stalls in the building next to the Paratransit bus stop at Sac State, but there doesn't seem to be any new people from Sacramento, so I guess that was to no effect.

I also wrote "MAKE SOCIAL JUSTICE A MAJOR!" just to see if that'd start something. Nothing happened on that front, either.

There is indeed a twitter account, though at the moment it just promotes our articles when they are published. I should probably take this time to ask if you are going to promote the site elsewhere to please not do something that would discredit us or violate the rules on other sites such as scrawling our url on dead bodies. We do want to leave the best impression whenever possible.

Just want to reiterate what Bert said. We're happy for you guys to promote the site, just make sure you don't break any rules of the site you're pimping us out on.

I say we sponsor a NASCAR racist...I mean racer (I hate myself for that joke). We only need $250,000!

Also, Nikkict, you should post in the Introduce Yourself thread for best results (aka, most thumbs).

What if I repeatedly spell out "thecommentsection.org" in entrails until the police start calling me "The Comment Section Killer." That's still OK, right?
