Poetry Reading

Postby DamianaRaven » Sun Sep 28, 2014 4:28 am

I think we should have a thread devoted to our readings and recitations of poems we love. Perhaps we could even organize another group reading? In the meantime, here is my rendition of Rudyard Kipling's "Female of the Species."

Beautiful.
That's one of my favourite poems, and one which I know by heart.
Having said that I don't think too many people would want to read poetry out loud for others to hear though.
I know I don't.
Nice one anyway Jenna.

I'm pleased you enjoyed it, Commander. Here's another Kipling classic for your flattery:

This is by far the most challenging series of words I've ever had to wrap my tongue around. I hope I haven't butchered a beautiful foreign language overmuch:

Yay! My favourite poem!

That was really damn good Jen! Well done!

Edit: you should do the second part as well though. Otherwise the context is lost.

Do it!

There's a second part? *puts her elbows on her knees and breathes deeply* You know I love the sound of Afrikaans - I would be privileged to read you more of it. Will you help me, as you've done before?

If you want a challenge, may I suggest My name by Magoleng wa Selepe.

This one is in English, but I just have always liked it: If you don't stay bitter for too long Charles Mungoshi
Have you heard of Don Mattera? Let the children decide and Remember

Some of the poems I did for English in High School...

A Drunken Reading

Postby DamianaRaven » Sun Jun 28, 2015 4:38 am

I'm pretty drunk when I read this, which is why it's... honestly, I haven't listened to it. I'm afraid I'll take it down if I do. Pov says it's fine, but he has a devilish streak in his heart.

Let's see if anyone can guess the (very talented) reader of the following children's classic:

You're an idiot and that's your turn. See me backstage for your parting gift. It is someone we all know - many of us rather well.
