I was quoted on an art blog! They also chose to repost my space woman art. It's a post on specialization.

My friend bought some glassblowing equipment and taught me how to make an implosion pendant. It took like an hour to create this and it ended up cracking but I'm still happy with how it turned out and want to do more.

And my first thought was "Whoa, you painted that? It looks just like a photograph!"

The first image is a painting I recently finished, the second is the older version. The next two images show off the copper and silver leaf.

A year ago at a college reunion I did a sketch in oil paint of my friend just for practice. This year, he decided he wanted to buy it to give to his father for Father's Day. The painting was on a flimsy canvas panel, so I used Gorilla Glue to stick it to a nice wood panel. I applied genuine silver leaf to the edges of the wood panel, and genuine copper leaf around the border of the painting. I've never used metal leaf before, but it came out great and makes it look nice without a frame.

After all this I made some improvements to the oil painting itself. The biggest challenge with this is to make changes without overworking it and losing the freshness of the sketch.

Reference photo I took for an illustration of the Dream Quest of Vellitt Boe, a Lovecraft inspired story. I read both this and the original Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, and enjoy it a lot. The model for this photo is Julie Bell, who is not only a fantastic model but also a brilliant artist.

Spent a week in a very intense class called IMC, and produced this at the end of it.

Image

I still want to finish it up and also transfer it to canvas and make it an oil painting. Right now it's a digital sketch.

This was my set up for the open house at the end of the week.

Image

The large thing is my ridiculously nice drawing tablet. It's not supposed to be vertical. I was kind of afraid it would fall, but it didn't. I have some business cards and some of them are in a red Audry 2 thing I have. I used emojis to hide the NDA art.

I'm taking 6 art workshops this summer. My previous post shows the results of my first workshop. Here are the results of 2 more week long workshops. One was a figure painting workshop, in the other one we learned how to sculpt, draw, and paint hands. Hands are the hardest thing to draw, this is the first time I can recall actually enjoying painting a hand.

Started doing Daily Spitpaints again. I'm supposed to spend a half hour on a sketch based on a prompt. One of the prompts yesterday was "King of the Hill." I was disappointed that everyone else had literally drawn a person on a hill so I did this.

I went to Las Vegas and made a watercolor sketch of a white lion from real life.

White lions aren't, they're sort of cream coloured.
