The rant thread.

I ordered a folding chair from Home Depot because no stores near me sell decent folding chairs in store, for whatever reason, so I was already annoyed at the week it will take to arrive. I chose what seemed to be the cheapest option that looked comfortable and would support my weight. Then I realized the exact same thing is $18 cheaper in another color and I somehow didn't see it on my first search.

I tried to cancel it and order the other one and it got a "temporary connection order." So I called customer service. The IVR system really pissed me off, as IVR systems are wont to do, but I got through to a live person. She said that another customer service person had placed a hold on my account, apparently the moment I placed my order, and neither she nor her boss can cancel the order or see the person who placed it.

The hold automatically expires in half an hour, so I was finally able to cancel the order, but wasting twenty minutes on the phone is always fun. And then I realized that they give you a five dollar discount for signing up, which I wasn't willing to miss, so I created an account and entered my information all over again. But then I realized that I didn't get the discount. (I did get it with the first order.) My best guess is that I used the same credit card and the discount only applies once per credit card.

It feels like someone crossed mosquitos with horseflies, coated their mouths with wasabi, set them on fire, and then set three dozen of them on my feet and ankles. When they bit my Achilles tendon, I literally started to collapse and had to grab my car for support.

Sounds awful! I'll steer clear on any fire ants now, because I have no curiosity about them.

Fire ants haven't reached Missouri yet, and according to the USDA, they probably never will. Stay north of the Mason-Dixon line, you should be fine.

They're invasive, Krash, and the governments of the US, Australia, and Taiwan have spent a lot of money trying to control them without success.

Today I learned that the real problem with fire ants isn't the initial bite, which is bad, or the immediate aftermath, which is burny-itchy like a wasp sting, but the delayed aftermath. I have a swollen foot and a swollen and infected calf, so I am now on a course of antibiotics and steroids. I could barely walk when I went to urgent care, and though I can walk better now, my foot is still in a lot of pain.

I want to be stabbed in my left eye with a beam of resplendent white light and be electrified, energized for everything.
Then maybe I'll do the things I want to do, like write more long term and form stuff, instead of just wandering around the net and waiting for new stuff all day.

Is it just my busted up sleep cycle?

I don't even remember the last time when I felt electrified and energized. Maybe it was back when I was a little kid and I annoyed my parents by getting up at five in the morning.

What is a sleep cycle?

I'm now averaging 4.5 hours at night, one or two during the day, 7-8 hours if I don't have to work the next day but beginning much later so I'll be at roughly 20 hours awake before I crash.

It's only been 3 weeks so I'm hoping to find something that resembles balance at some point.

I remember the last time I felt electrified. I was twelve years old and I stuck my finger into the electrical socket in the kitchen. Boy was that an energising experience.

I once had a busted laptop that would electrify me pretty regularly. I think it had a short circuit through the (partially exposed) metal frame.

The only thing it helped me accomplish was deciding to pay for a new laptop.

My speakers are vibrating bad. Like earthquake shaking. Ever since I got a new amplifier the record player keeps picking up vibrations from the speakers, so when I play records above a certain volume and it's not a loud volume, the speakers create a feedback with the needle and BOOM. It's pissing me off.

We're going to try using foam under the speakers to fix it but I'm thinking I'll have to buy speaker spikes. It's only $20 for the spikes. The foam will probably cost more but I have to take the speakers apart to do the spikes. It'll be a bitch and a half to do. So, here's hoping the foam works.
