Have you ever seen an anime called Ghost Stories?
Especially the english dub of the show, known for focusing on comedy in contrast to the originally japanese voiced plot?

Does anyone realize that one line Momoko, the character portrayed as somewhat loopy and a Christian fundamentalist, kept the show from aging so far?

This evening, I saw a totaled ambulance being towed on a flatbed truck. I never thought about it before, but I wonder whether ambulances, which do a lot of driving fast, running reds, and expecting drivers to move out of their way, have more or fewer accidents than regular vehicles, given that the vast majority of vehicles actually do move out of their way.

Yeah, my doppleganger, that's who that was. Totally.

JamishT was a heck of a guy,
With a devilish twinkle in his eye.
With his hand-picked flowers,
And his feel-good powers,
He made all the girls blush and sigh.

Encyclopedia Dramatica has a weird ability to demonstrate the fact that all these online personalities that argue with each other now, used to be besties before.

Thats it, I'm putting on my tinfoil hat: Youtube makes these people.

I got to work two hours early today (on purpose), and we did almost no work for the first few hours. Among other things, we had a training session wherein we learned that, for I don’t know how long, our department wasn’t following basic safety procedures when it came to cleaning/fixing the machines we use.

(Presumably, the only way to stop a bad guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law is a good guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law, and thus transgender-friendly privacy law rights need to be enshrined in the Constitution as well)

So I'm looking at all the editions of On the Origin of Species that are just pictures (mostly public domain lithographs) of random animals, and it occurred to me: wouldn't it be amusing to issue a line of public domain books with random, completely unrelated public domain art? Then I realized, I'm pretty sure I've actually seen that in existing lines of cheap public domain books. You'd probably have to work pretty hard to find a cover that fits so badly you wonder "what the hell is with this cover?"

There is vegan ice cream at the local supermarket, but it only comes in three flavors. One is chocolate. Yeah, fine. The other is vanilla. Understandable. The third is... coconut "with a passion fruit twist". How did this selection come about, I have no idea. Luckily, I actually like the coconut-passion fruit flavor.

It sounds like a generic "tropical" style one which seems to be popular.

Coconut is popular in vegan recipes as a cheap source of saturated fat, and it is also known as a tropical flavor. Passionfruit is a increasingly popular tropical fruit. It makes sense to me, sort of a twist on a piña colada, except without the problem if trying to use pineapple, which is a tricky ingredient to work with.

Of course, there is the issue of passionfruit is expensive as fuck in the US; if I wanted an "almost piña colada" flavor, I'd have used mango. Either it's cheaper in Europe, or they're using it because a relatively small amount can make the product seem classy and upscale.

Passionfruit grows pretty much everywhere, where I'm from. I'm still getting used to people treating it as this trendy, exotic ingredient.

Turns out that, due to a quirk in our house's ventilation, the smell of whatever is cooking in the kitchen gets piped directly into the Man-creature's home office. So every time I cook lunch, he's sitting there on a meeting or writing a report, trying to concentrate while being slowly tortured by food smells.

Probably a good thing I'm not the kind of person who likes to passive-aggressively screw with their spouse, because nobody should have this kind of power.

I had to go downtown this evening. Parked on the street, and on the way back to my car, I'm confronted by what at first I thought would be a panhandler.

Guy: Do you want some weed?
Me: [not breaking stride] I do not.
[brief pause as I continue to walk away]
Guy: Do you want some crack?

I guess it's better than being panhandled, and I kind of have to admire his chutzpah.
