Origins of your username?

Discussion, in general

EDIT: DRAT! New page.

Piter Lauchy wrote:One fateful evening, me and two friends had dinner together. One thing lead to another and we founded a rap band, Gurkenwasser (cucumber water), inspired by the use of pickled cucumbers in our meal.
Obviously, we needed stage names and at first, mine was Schlimmlauch. "Schlimm" means "bad/evil" and "Lauch" literally means "leek", but it's also frequently used in the German rap scene to refer to a wimpy/skinny (in the non-muscular way) dude. So "Schlimmlauch" could be translated as "Bad Wimp". I don't remember how that name came up. Blame general silliness.

Anyway, after recording the two best rap albums in all of history we were bored, for there lay no more challenges before us, and we turned to audio drama.

I will pay you literally tens of dollars to hear those rap albums.

Thanks, but they're not really meant for the public, especially not the international one. They're German, they're full of inside jokes and they're really fucking bad, and not even in the funny way (well, we and our circle of friends find them funny, but that isn't saying much).
If you heard those albums, you'd start a petition to get me banned, doxxed and assassinated, and then, having fulfilled the most important mission anyone ever had, you'd implode into a vortex of nothingness, forever despairing under the knowledge that those files are out there, waiting for their chance to enslave humanity for their horrendous bidding. Even Cthulu wouldn't touch them with a million foot pole.

So no, I won't do that to you for tens of dollars. Elevens maybe.

Since I done gone and changed mine: "Twistappel" is the Dutch word for the Apple of Discord. Why Dutch? Because it sounds snappier than "Apple of Discord".

When I was in college, my roommate was dating a coworker who was only here for the summer. When she left to go back to school about 4 hours away, they tried to make the long-distance thing work. This would always involve my roommate making the trip and staying with her for the weekend.

On one such occasion, she broke up with him once he arrived. He was pissed that she didn't do it over the phone so he wouldn't have to drive 4 hours only to be broken up with. When he got back, he wanted revenge, and being the good roommate that I was, I offered my assistance.

I sat down with my roommate at my computer and started messaging her on AOL Instant Messenger (boy am I dating myself now). I started things off innocuously enough:

"I heard you guys broke up. I'm sorry to hear about that. I hope we can still be friends."

Then I slowly crept over the line:

"You know, I always thought you were very attractive."
"Since you've broken up, I guess that means you're single now, huh?"

Then I went full-on creep:

"I am standing outside your window now. You look very pretty right now!"

She accused me of being "some kind of creepy, stalker-rapist". My response?

"I am not creepy."

Tea House Moon is a song by Enya. Being a lover of astronomy and tea, I love the name but decided to put my own spin on it.

This is the most embarrassing piece of work since Clint Eastwood painted his wagon.

Then you're going to need to know about this thread. And also this one. And there may be a regular astronomy thread but I don't know and am too lazy to look, sorry.

The last three pages of threads in the Articles sub-forum have some things about space, but I don't know if anything has been posted since 2013.

(Presumably, the only way to stop a bad guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law is a good guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law, and thus transgender-friendly privacy law rights need to be enshrined in the Constitution as well)

We are here teahouse, but the people who were really into those space articles aren't around any more. We may or may not have articles back on track sometime depending on fate.

I can absolutely update space science stuff. I'm always reading about it but it just seemed like it didn't get a lot of views and responses here. Shit, I feel the same about discussing cracked articles.

This thread would probably be where I would dump my brains on but feel free to make a more specified one.

The vast majority of threads, if people post in them enough, I feel compelled to comment on them eventually.

Pretty much the only exceptions are debates I don't think I can contribute anything productive to, threads on media I don't consume (mostly video games), and roleplaying threads.

cmsellers will post in any thread, don't let him mislead you for a second. He accounts for 90% of TCS activity.

I wouldn't be shocked to one day find out I'm his alt and my whole life is just an ugly lie.

About 2.9% actually.
