I'm very blessed to have my boyfriend. I had 3 bad diet days, 2 were slightly over in calories and one was a total binge day, but he didn't make me feel bad about it or judge me for it and now I'm ready to eat better again.

Just found out the camping trip I was looking forward to was cancelled so right away he said "Well, we'll go camping together!" Very sweet :3

I've been DMing the same D&D campaign for a little over 2 years now, and this Sunday was our penultimate session. It really has been something else, and I'm nervous about finishing it next week, but I think my favorite moment just happened out-of-game at the end of Sunday's session:

After we were winding down for the day, beginning to talk about next week's big game, one of my friends announced she had something to present. She half-nervously, half-confidently positioned herself behind the couch as if it were a stage. She held up a notebook, placed her phone on the edge of the couch, pressed "play", and began singing. She had, no shit, written an entire tribute song about the campaign to the tune of American Pie. This was not a half-assed affair, either: it was straight up 8 minutes of plot summery and in-jokes that rhymed and were sang, by her, to Don McLean's accompaniment. It was the Weird Al Phantom Menace song for way bigger nerds. I'm going to post the lyrics, and they'll make no sense to any of you, but it was one of the most weirdly gratifying moments of my life and the scope is pretty fucking impressive regardless so I'm sharing it here.

A Song for my Friends
By Fang Yevelda

A long, long time ago
Sildar got his hand cut off
I don't know much about that
You could ask Moraelia
'Cause she's the only one of us
Who's been here since the very first attack

The Lord's Alliance brought us together
They gave us quests, but we knew better
We played around in Phandolin
Our party size was more than ten

We chased some goblins, one way gay
We made it to wave echo cave
The black spider might be okay
And he gave us this quest

Chorus:

Oh bye, bye, kiss those nodes goodbye
We've been playing this for years so fucking nobody die
And we'll save Faerun from this Therisdune guy
Singing can we long rest after this fight?
Can we long rest after this fight?

Did you know the Triboar tour
Was the best part of our game so far?
But we're just getting started
Oh Rurik says we should find Amon
But the rest of the party kind of wants
To see where the delegation could have gone

Well we know they came from Mirabar
And Amon couldn't have gotten far
There's an adventuring party too
We took a song statue

We came upon Helvenblade House
Amon seemed nice, but we had doubts
We met Peepers, or Umsheroth
We hoped he'd join our quest
I started singing,

Chorus

Then we met Elfy McElferson
And who'd have thought he'd be our friend
Probably till the next campaign
We went to the Rite of the Wickerman
On the way I got a new javelin
And I'm getting fed up with this orgasm

We'll Vannifer gave us a job
We blew it off to fight a mob
Of orcs who knew my dad
Our choice may have been bad

And at the spire we met Thural
We eventually killed half his animals
At least we got a folding boat
And then continued our quest
We were singing

Chorus

Handshakes, pirates, cooked potato
Deep into the water temple we go
Obsidian stairs and falling fast
In Shadowfell we crashed
We met Caesar and he was trashed
We got around to smashing nodes at last

Well we had some pirates in the mirror
They'd been in there for about a year
We put them on our boat
It didn't work out as hoped

We faced our first god Ogremach
We took care of that giant rock
Peepers helped with Klogmorach
Maybe now he'll join our quest
We were singing

Chorus

Oh and there we were all in the Fey
And Fang Yevelda won the race
'Cause who has time for all this mist?
So come on, grab your frog and grab your stick
And we'll turn into clouds real quick
'Cause clouds can move really fast

Oh we found some acid, oil, and bees
We wondered what to do with these
We put the bees to sleep
We didn't learn anything

And when we claimed we had to poop
Evil Kristal attacked the group
But it's ok, we fixed the room
Is this part of our quest?
We were singing

Chorus

Over the years we've had some fun
And soon enough we will have won
And I'll remember everyone
There's Popo and his freakish bird
Moraelia, of whom no one's heard
And what the hell's in Felix's wing of the mansion?

And I'll always fall off of things
Caesar will have lots of trees
Boris loves potatoes
We killed off that guy Taenil

And the house that I admire most
I can't afford as I had hoped
So let's go smash the fire node
It's time to finish our quest

Chorus

I notice that "bald" isn't an option. Which makes me think "fat" isn't an option for body type, and "yellow" isn't an option for skin color.

The yellow skin is unlockable. You get it as a reward for the 10,000 alcoholic drinks achievement.

I had a job interview this morning, and it went pretty well. I also got a 40th (or so) call from another company that always jerks me around and never hires me, but this time, they offered a lot more money (1.5x or so than usual), so I broke down and applied. I find it ironic that the only times I *don't* hear from them are when I apply for a job, but whatever.

According to the "good people" at Charlottesville, that's because you're a white man, which is the most discriminated-against demographic in America. Have you tried either defending racist statues with tiki torches or becoming a wise Latina woman?

There's a massive cloud of house martins over my neighbourhood at the moment. Watching them, I'm reminded of the fact that they'll be gone in a few short weeks, and that some of them have spent their whole lives here and are about to fly off to Africa for the first time. I'll enjoy them while they last.

~~I got my medication~~ ~~I get to feel normal soon~~ ~~And the doctor isn't a lunatic~~

Am also realizing how glad I am not to need to rely on my previous doctor now, for speed of appointment/speed of scheduling appointment reasons, but also because I'm starting to realize how scammy the old one was.

Old doctor used to insist I had to come in every 3 months to let her know how my prescription was working ("It's still fine?" "Okay cool, appointment over") or else I wouldn't get a new prescription. (Looking back, I'm sure she got more money from my insurance + my copay each time I went.) After a while, I just bypassed her by asking my insurance to contact her to re-up my prescription instead. Current doctor, however, was just like "Kay, you're all good, here's a year's prescription. Call me in 12 months or if you have any problems."

The thunder is loud on this quiet Sunday morning, and even with some parts of the sky still blue, the lightning flashes can be seen, even from a distance.

I'll be moving into an apartment by the end of this week. Considering how my old lease ended on August first, I think the timing wasn't too bad( found out I would be getting it almost three weeks ago).

My job is giving us free lunch for this entire week to motivate us to get our sales in by the end of the month. I am relishing in the glory that is unexpected free pizza.

Last Thursday, someone e-mailed me about a job I applied to asking when I'd be available for an interview this week. It was scheduled for this morning over the phone, but she never said what time. I woke up somewhat early to research the company and seem like a functioning human in case someone called at 9 AM or something. A little while ago, she called to prepare me for the interview, and went over the kind of questions I'd probably be asked. Then she called back a minute later and said I got the job.

In a totally-not-ominous turn of events, I was asked to provide proof of my diploma (I hadn't even bothered to open the envelope, even though I got it >2 years ago, but it's in there), and also of a certification that I thought I got last year, that I don't have hard copy proof of (someone who should know what he's talking about said I didn't have to register with the state). I sent a screenshot proving that I passed, so hopefully that's enough.

If it turns out to be a problem, I will not be very happy. Bitterly amused (in a childish, I-told-you-so way), but not happy.

So there was a disaster-relief team from Michigan who was supposed to go to Haiti, but their flight got canceled due to Irma, so they came to Jacksonville instead.

They came to our house and cut up the tree and removed it from our yard. They had 17 people and 3 chainsaws, and it took them less than an hour.

Then they went next door and took care of a tree in my neighbor's yard.

I am so relieved. I was afraid I was either going to spend a lot of money or time getting that taken care of. Now, I just have to hear from the claims adjustor about the roof...
