Looking on the Brighter Side, Things that are good

Postby Matthew Notch » Sun Apr 14, 2013 4:36 pm

In PWoT there are several threads kind of like this, but we can have them all in one place since there aren't a whole ton of us here . :)

Basically, I've seen a lot of conversation regarding the conflicts and turmoil that led to the creation of this forum. While I think keeping a careful eye on the past is always a good idea, why not also have a healthy outlook on the future? So, why not tell us about some of the good things that are going on with you?

Couple things: I'd really like this to be about YOU, not about something cool you saw on the Interwebs. Have you accomplished something awesome recently? Or even, do you just have a goal in mind and a good plan for attaining it? Getting married? Graduating? Just had a baby? Wrote a song? Posted a video on the YouTubes? Ate a biscuit? Tell us about it!

Let's not forget that while we had a community going on Cracked, we have an opportunity to have a community here now! We're all here for each other, for support and encouragement. If you were worried you wouldn't get that on PWoT, you'll get it here.

Unless it involves necrophilia or bestiality. Then no, we will probably discourage that.

And.... go!

Also, kiddie porn is probably discouraged. Even if the mods aren't right on top of that shit, the FBI probably will be. You should probably expand that to "Unless it violates the laws of your home nation or applicable international treaties..."

By bright side is literally bright... Today is the first truly awesome day Pittsburgh's had this year, weather-wise.

70s, sunny, nice cool breeze. Beautiful. I've been alternating between sitting on my balcony and playing Bioshock Infinite.

@Jay: You lucky bastard. It's about to snow here in Kansas. What.

As for me (and no, this is not the only reason I created this thread), my wife shot some video a couple days ago of me playing a couple songs, one I've released and one I haven't. I put audio over it using Windows Movie Maker for the first time evah and I finally have a Matthew Notch YouTube channel as a result.

Here it is if anyone cares. Gash, will you give us sneak previews if we ask very nicely and show some leg?

Good luck on your story, Gash! The best stories are always rewritten dozens of times. It takes a lot of work to make a story just right. Keep at it! I'm sure it'll be awesome when it's done.

Jay can eat a bag of dicks because it's been snowing here in the area formerly known as the southern Dakota Territory all day. JugularNotch is going to get it soon, it sounds like.

Speaking of JugularNotch, I'm listening to "The Double Deuce" as I type this. I like it a lot! It's relaxing while I program.

As for me, and I've mentioned this elsewhere, but what the hell, I'm about to graduate with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics. Hopefully I'll find a job somewhere before the end of the semester.

Congrats to cjlind6436 and JugularNotch!

As for weather, it's starting to get nice. But since I'm in Saskatchewan, "nice" means that we're down to only a couple feet of snow on the ground. Umm...I've started writing rap lyrics, but I have no musical talent, so it's quite a struggle. Fine tuning my own rhythms and what-not. The bright side is university classes are over, even if that means I have finals right away.

I was also listening to The Double Deuce while typing. Very nice, Jugular.

Windows open, having a beer with my dad and watching basketball on tv.

Two months ago, you could have told me I'd be doing this right now and I would not have believed you.

I love this idea! What a nice thread! Aww you guys !:)

Well, I am studying my ass off at the moment (well I'm taking a small distraction break) I'm doing an honours degree course in astrophysics and my exams are a week away. It's a good thing I love equations because that is all I see when I close my eyes, but I love what I do and what I'm learning so I thought I'd share.

I'm usually too shy to participate too much in comments sections etc. but this seems like a nice n friendly place!

I made kladdkaka this afternoon, and it actually turned out alright. I don't even want to eat it, but the last one I made (Good Friday, I think it was?) was too dry. Also, finally finally starting on projects I've been meaning to do for ages.

Edit, since I missed it, but way to go, Ganymede314!

I'm too dumb to have done astronomy or astrophysics, but its still something I love. I would share SPAAAACCEE articles with my students just about every class, checking out space.com, watching astronauts make sandwiches, and talking about black holes n stuff. Especially Luke McKinney articles. That guy loves space, carnally.

Good luck, space-man(lady?)!

Aww thanks guys! And I'm a space lady! I know, I love Luke McKinneys articles, and you're right he does seem to know space.... intimately....

Also, Dottoe, I googled kladkaka and it sounds delicious!!

Gash, that story sounds great, I hope to get the chance to read it someday.

What a great thread. Very heartening, and terribly interesting to hear about the real-lives behind the usernames. :) Grats to all! ...but I'm biased, so especially to Ganymede because space lady.

To add my own, I'm finally successful enough as a freelancer to be able to turn down work without worrying (only a couple days ago, woop).

Also I ate a biscuit. Aw yiss.

Are we talking about an American biscuit or an English biscuit?
