How does your garden grow?

Postby CarrieVS » Thu Apr 07, 2016 7:21 pm

You may have seen this year's April Fools xkcd. If you haven't, here's how it works:

When you visit that link, it generates an id on the end of the URL. Bookmark that.

You get a bare 'garden' with a lamp floating in mid-air. You can position the lamp and change its colour and the width of the beam. You can add and remove lamps, but you can't have more than three at once.

If you wait, stuff grows where the lamps are shining. Blue lamps grow 'wet' things such as octopuses. Red lamps grow dry things such as cacti and tortoises. Yellow lamps, in the middle of the spectrum, grow various plants and animals and things. Most of the things never grow bigger once they're there, but the large trees generate a bare trunk first and then randomly add branches and leaves.

If you don't like a thing, you can select it and delete or press the X button to remove it. This includes individual leaves and branches of large trees.

You can share your link with people, and they will see it without being able to change it. If you clear your cookies, you won't be able to edit either.

Here's mine.

So far, I've got a gent talking to three octopi, a tortoise on a journey, and a snake trying to sell real estate.

Edit: Ah hell, I've refreshed and frozen the damn thing.

Oh well, I'll retry it when I'm home.

Herea better one-
On a small desert island there was a deer and two turtles. Just out of reach lies a pack of hungry octopi...

Mine is a mess because I can't bring myself to prune things. But the Washington Monument is there and a couple of cats and octopuses so I'm happy.

Here's one I started a few hours ago. One of the lights was red originally, until I decided I didn't like those plants as much.

EDIT: Apparently the guy standing on the desk can grow stuff, too.

(Presumably, the only way to stop a bad guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law is a good guy with a transgender-friendly privacy law, and thus transgender-friendly privacy law rights need to be enshrined in the Constitution as well)

I started a fresh one and at the time of writing I have seven (seven!) armadillos all facing the same way, in a line.

All aboard the armadillo train, I guess.
