The New Wave in Privacy and Security: Self-Destructing Phone

Postby Yawn.Bored » Thu Oct 15, 2015 9:07 am

So I thought that this was a completely fabricated rumour until I came across more and more artices about it.

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2474037,00.asp

Blackberry and Boeing teamed up to build a self-destructing phone. Of course it won't burst into flames or anything super-cool and Bond-esque, but it's still really interesting nonetheless. The phone wipes all info and destroys the operating system to make retrieval of that information impossible.

You will need security clearance to own one and they will be expensive.....but I would still love to see this thing. If this phone won't really be all that accessible though, isn't that a dead give away that anyone who owns one is more than likely a spy? Just saying.

The interesting thing with all of these is that we already have the ideal tech for privacy and security. All of these "latest things" are really trying to answer the question "can we be both private and connected?"

Ugh, kids these days. In my day we had to destroy our phones ourselves.

"Dick pics so fierce, they'll break your phone"

The marketing potential for this alone should make billions.

And any attempt to break open the product casing would trigger a Mission Impossible-style deletion of saved data and software, and render the gadget inoperable.

Great, so now if I drop my phone it's going to implode.

Really? I think his former tight end Aaron Hernandez could've used it way more.
