FFVII was on sale in the PSN store so I picked that up, more for completion's sake than for anything else as I wasn't particlarly thrilled to play it again.
But then I thought about playing it again (it's been many years since I last played it) and it all came back. Holy crap, the nostalgia.
The PS4 version looks gorgeous and has three cheats built in: Speed up time by a factor of 3, turn off random encounters and full recovery and limit bars every turn. The third one is a bit OP and I'm not planning to use it, but the other two are so convenient.
ETA: Also, it comes with a beautiful theme for the PS4 menu which features a Cloud/Midgar background, Aerith's Theme and FF menu sound effects.
Anyway, I'm having an absolute blast so far. I understand everything so much better now, especially the materia system and the plot. If you think the English version it badly translated, well, you'd be right, but guess what: The German version is badly translated from the English version, making it even more of a mess. I'm playing in English now and although I've seen English playthroughs, it's so much better to experience it oneself (the plot and other stuff, like beating the Midgar Zolom of whom I was genuinely terrified as a kid).
Also, since I'm following a 100 % guide I'm playing parts I've never played before. The last time I played, I didn't even know that there was more to dressing up Cloud than just the dress and wig, for example.
I've seen all that since then, but haven't played it.
This is getting me so hyped for the remake. Please be good!
I'm directly outside Cosmo Valley at the moment. Looking forward to one of the best songs in the game (which is saying a lot considering there isn't a single bad one) and to exploit a glitch to get Barret to love me so I can go on the Gold Saucer date with him (it's an Achievement or a Trophy, as Sony calls it).
I feel like the kid again to whom this game was a revelation.

Praise Jesus, especially when it's sunny outside because Jesus would totally be cool with you praising while you get a nice tan.
