Looking through the codex I think I found an answer to the problem I had:

Image

The Reapers are thought to be capable of traveling 30 light-years per day, which is 10,950 times the speed of light, and don't seem to require fuel or a place to discharge their drive cores.

The same entry says that Citadel ships top out at about half that, meaning they can make the 2.5 million light-year trip in about 500 years. So I guess the issue about going fast enough to make the trip in an amount of time that still counts as "centuries" is solved regardless of whether they manage to attain the speeds Reapers could.

If they can figure out how to apply the Reapers' lack of fuel or discharge requirements to their ships (which is probably what will happen) then they can make the trip in centuries.

Alternatively: There totally is a mass relay to Andromeda. It just kind of went the way of the Charon Relay. It's rediscovered during the post-war clean up and (after probes are sent through to make sure it's not like the Omega 4 Relay and launches you into the accretion disk of a supermassive black hole) they send a team through to explore.

I doubt it. The Mass Relays are essentially a bait network of portals meant to only cover less than 1% of the Milky Way Galaxy to make for an easy harvest by the reapers. There is no reason for the reapers to be concerned with the Andromeda Galaxy. Thus, no Mass Relay.

I know it's only a teaser and all, but Bioware is going to need to really hook me during the official reveal/trailer. If not, I'll pass.

The ending to 3 pissed me off and I hated that the MP support fizzled out rather quickly.

Oh Bioware! Mass Effect 2 is a masterpiece, easily one of my favourite games ever. All their other games this millenium have been pretty good at best and I believe this will be pretty good as well. I will miss Garrus though...

Garrus also saves the biggest load til the end if you're in a relationship with him and is endlessly anxious about being the perfect boyfriend. He's funny, manly and relateable. *swoons*

The game will be released in Winter 2017 and may possibly be open worlded. I really need to hurry it up with the whole "getting an XBox One" thing.

Necro'ing.

So new trailers have been coming out for this game, and I'm actually starting to get very interested in it.

I was actually very worried, because most of the writers from the first series left, but what I've seen of the trailers (it was actually a trailer and a slice of gameplay video) leaves me encouraged. Apparently, along with this new alien society you find yourself in, everyone else is joining you for the party. You see the Krogan, Turian, Asari, and apparently the smaller alien races are still gonna join the party in some way.

They still didn't show much of the combat, but I keep hearing it's gonna be like 3s combat, and I loved three's combat.

And I also like that this is the first BW game where if you choose the male/female character, the other will still exist in the game. I don't thin I've ever seen them do that before.

So I know one game that's on my "to-get" list, and it's apparently coming out a lot earlier than I though--Spring 2017, to be exact.

Well, a lot of people from Bioware and DonTnoD did work on Fallout 4, and Fallout 4 did have a Mass Effect/ Life is Strange-esque dialogue system. It would make sense if they adopted a Fallout 4 game mechanic for Andromeda.

So, the facial animations aren't exactly top notch, but they're not really as bad as the internet claims. Yeah, Ryder Sr.'s jaw is a bit wonky in the beginning and some character presets leave much to be desired, but you alter them anyway, so it doesn't really matter. The supposed pausing between dialogue is also greatly exaggerated. Despite being marketed as a bright space western, it doesn't stray from the cosmic horror of the trilogy. Habitat 7 is no Eden Prime. The combat is much tougher than ME3, because health is spare. Also, you don't control the use of weapons or powers of your squadmates, and your abilities don't have their own wheel, so you can't just pause the fight every few seconds. Rather than being able to spam medigel, you have to rely on health packs and cover, though your health bar replenishes for scripted combat events. Also, you have a jetpack/biotic propulsion, which really adds to the exploration. Interacting is a little clumsy because you have to have to hold a button rather than just press, and the text can be a bit transluscent, but it's not that big of a hassle. Rather than being paragon or renegade, dialogue is tone based, which alters other characters' opinion of you, which you can actually track. However, despite being more complex than the morality system, the tone system falls into the same pitfalls. So, it's not perfect, but still promising.

I disagree about the multiplayer support. They released several free multiplayer DLC maps/characters/weapons over the course of a year.

Sure, they didn't release anything or have any other challenges after a year, but they left behind a robust multiplayer system with a ton of fun races/classes to play as (Drell Assassin 4 Lyfe!)

I am looking forward to getting Andromeda ... eventually. As with all games, I can't afford to get them right away, so I'll wait until the price goes down. This does also have the added benefit of them releasing patches and other stuff so when I play I'll have an overall better experience.

I've been engrossed in this game since it came out. It's a lot like Inquisition, but the whole base buidling aspect makes a lot more sense given the story. The writing is better than DAI, but not as good as the ME trilogy. I'll probably get a full review going when I finish the game (damn you, work), but for now: exceeded my expectations (though I've never been shy about my love of the series, so take that with a grain of salt) even as there are some aspects I'm a bit disappointed in. If you weren't a fan of the first trilogy, though, this game probably will not sell you unless the thought of base building through colonizing planets sounds really awesome to you.

I loved DAI, so I'm happy to hear it's similar gameplay.

Of course I want to colonize planets, baby. All night long. Seed those planets. Oooooh yeah.

But I won't be able to get this game for a while, because new fucking sidewalk.
