Songs that give you goosebumps

What do you listen to?

Songs that give you goosebumps

Have you ever heard a song that sent chills down your spine or gave you goosebumps (for whatever reason)? Here are some that have done it for me:

(the first song on that album even more so, but I can't seem to find it on Youtube)

those opening notes...

(from a concept album based on J. R. R. Tolkien's "The Silmarillion," which I haven't read)

I'm going to love this thread.

This is cheating (because it's already very well known), but I can't help myself. This piece:

Pavarotti, and Rossini FTW.

And this one, ever since the season two finale of "The West Wing" ('Two Cathedrals' easily one of my favourite episodes of any TV show, ever).

This is a song called For Those Who Died Alone by a Turkish metal band called Pentagram (or Mezarkabul)

The opening and the quieter parts especially get to me.

Most songs give me goosebumps so maybe:

Also this because it's impossible to hear it and not get goosebumps.

306 by Emilie Autumn.

I don’t know whether it is the fact it was inspired by a real historical figure, L'Inconnue de la Seine (the unknown woman of the Seine) or that the length of the coda (3:00), represents the time it takes a person to drown.

I've posted this before, I think. But you need to make sure you listen to it until the last 60 seconds. That is when you are gonna get jazzed.

Man created logic and because of that was superior to it. Logic He gave unto me, but no more. The tool does not describe the designer. More than this I do not choose to say. More than this you have no need to know.

Icelandic music has been known to stir my soul in terrible ways:

Vökuró by Björk, but actually an old lullaby (click here for the translated lyrics, which you should almost never do with Icelandic music). The third stanza in particular just destroys my soul.

Also, why not these guys? I almost danced to this song at my wedding:

aaaaaaand then I looked at the translated lyrics, and they are much more cheerful than I wish they were. This is why you never translate Icelandic songs. But Sigur Rós are just so great, and you all should immediately go out and buy all their records if you don't already have them, or maybe even if you do.

So Sara Bareilles is basically perfect, thanks, bye.

Might be a cliche, but this is my favourite song:

Any love for William Matteuzzi's Credeasi Misera? Or Lawrence Brownlee's ah mes amis?
Beautiful voices, my lord.

Songs that give me goosebumps/chills/what have you are just little bits of condensed heaven, I think.
These are great for just that.

Ok, one more. I'm on some weird emotional trip right now, and I can't stop listening to this band.

The Honorary Title is a great band. Jeremy, I keep thinking you and I need to go nerd out over some music soon.
