Tidal Music

What do you listen to?

Tidal Music

Anyone considering paying $19.99 a month?

I use iheart and pandora a little bit, but never enough to consider premium services. I can't imagine even an extreme elitist audiophile would find that a justifiable price.

Nope. I actually have a premium subscription to Deezer because I think it's good value for 7.99€ a month. It's my main means of listening to and discovering music nowadays. And the premium bitrate of 320 is entirely sufficent for my needs, as I don't have any high end speakers or headphones to take advantage of higher qualities anyway.

The story of how I started using Deezer is a bit of clever marketing really. A music festival I went to last year provided a free 3 month premium subscription to all who bought tickets. So I thought why not try, liked it and ended up keeping my subscription.

As it is now, I don't see any reason to switch services. Also, the Tidal website doesn't even let me browse their music library without redirecting to install an app, pff.

Nah, though. There's a cheap version of Tidal that comes without the lossless stuff, but it's basically exactly the same as Spotify so why should I bother? Besides, I don't know what's in its library. Spotify has plenty of surprisingly obscure stuff and I exploit the fuck out of that - do I have any guarantee Tidal will be the same?

This is just a bunch of rich people begging for even more money as far as I'm concerned.

No. Nope. Eeeeh nope.

Personally, I'm pretty happy with my 320 kbps from Spotify premium and I can't really take advantage of super high quality audio to full extent with the stuff I have. Yeah, Tidal has a $10/month subscription model going but, well, Deezer has that too and Deezer does better quality than 320 kbps. I can't really see myself going from Spotify to Tidal since Tidal is basically just either Spotify with a smaller library or more expensive audiophile Spotify with a smaller library. There's just really no reason at all for me to make the switch. Now, Spotify are being dicks and just straight up removed shit in their latest update (like the ability to use ctrl+f in playlists) but it's still a better service than Tidal seems to be.

In a world with free streaming music being the moral high ground, and pirating being the norm, it takes balls of iron to suggest $20 a month for music. $20 is larger than the total amount I have paid for music in the last decade.

I saw this just a little while ago and if this is real, well I don't know what to think.

Mar2015- quantity 631 x unit $ .020334 = gross 12.830948. my calculator gets 12.830754.

ok either I don't know how to use a calculator or these numbers are questionable.

$25 for a cd what is this 1997 again? Even the hifi download is $18. At those prices you might as well go with that ridiculous Pono player.

Edit/ And for those of you who use the pound a whopping £22 ($33.75).
