I've been listening to some of the more unfamiliar bands from the lineup of a festival I plan on visiting in the summer and discovered Rangleklods:

DAMN those are some cool beats. Stoked!

I've been into Dan Deacon lately. I'm not sure how to classify this kind of music but I think I need to hear more of it.

His remix of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is elegant. It's one of those thought experiments where I go "Gosh, I could have done that!" and then, a couple minutes later, "So why DIDN'T you?"

Miike Snow - Black Tin Box

This kind of dark, melancholy electronic music hits all the right buttons for me.
But the edges were sharp...

Some more in this vein:
Son Lux - Ransom

Son Lux has quickly become one of my favorite artists since I first heard him this year and this song is one of the best.

Perfume Genius - Queen

I've spent the last few days listening to a little known Polish duo called Rebeka. They released a new album on Deezer (and Spotify) yesterday which is how I discovered them. There's only one song from it on youtube so far:

A little taste I guess, but not really my favorite on the album. That distinction goes to Today which is a total 80s pop song in the best of ways. It's a happiness bomb! Other favorites include The Trip on the moodier end, and Falling on the dancier end. And there's also What Have I Done...

But since those are not youtube, here are some goodies from the previous album instead:

Last post in March?! What a shameful display!

I have to post about Jagwar Ma, my new favorite live band that I saw at a festival this July. Some of their stuff has a more straightforward indie pop sound but then some of it goes all out psychedelic dance and it was amazing live. So amazing that I'm going to see them again in October!

Backwards Berlin

The Throw

O B 1

Four

The whole second half of their set was something in the vein of the last video, trippy as fuck. The live videos on youtube are quite uneven in quality unfortunately but I picked ones that are consistent with my experience. ;)

Been hearing some good ass chillout remixes lately. I shall start with this remix that did something so radically different to the original I can't really even right now.

Portugal the Man remixed by Medasin

I love the vocals in this one. They're so mellow and distant.

Haux remixed by Samuraii

And I guess this isn't a remix, but whatever, fite me

Alina Baraz and Khalid

And this one is pretty good too. I'd be interested in hearing more of her production work because I get the feeling this one sort of just scratches the surface of what she can do:

Emma Jensen live

Finally I guess this one is like four years old, but I found it when it came up on the restaurant's Pandora station so it's new to me:

Sohn performs The Wheel

For some reason that song makes me think about Tuli. I think because it's a little offbeat and in that way it is reminiscent of Son Lux.

You know my taste well, Notch! That one was definitely my fav out of all those. :P

I've found a bunch of pleasing electronic music and it's all French for some reason.

Bloum - La part des anges

Ok for this one, I absolutely love the combination of electronics plus whatever wind instrument they're using (clarinet?) and the dreamlike vocal samples.

Jumo - Nomade

Awir Leon - Maybe We Land
