Utterly depressing music

What do you listen to?

Utterly depressing music

Postby Tesseracts » Wed Apr 02, 2014 2:58 pm

The depression thread made me want to start this thread. Most of the songs I listen to most frequently are utterly depressing. I have no idea why, but I seem to get something out of it, and I want to hear more depressing music.

I don't know if this would be considered as depressing as the others but:

Of course, I like me some rap, too:

And you can never count out some...let's just call it metalcore, so utterly pretentious people don't shriek at me for mislabeling the subgenre this falls into:

Hey, maybe we should start using spoiler tags, or this page is going to murder everyone's computer.

It's slowing my computer also. I considered making it a rule to put all videos and images in spoiler tags, until I learned that wouldn't solve the problem. The videos take just as long to load even in spoiler tags.

You're not the first to complain about this, so perhaps we should get rid of embedding altogether and just have links.

I know that in some of the old posts in the music forum you can find mod edits asking to cap embeds at 1-2 per post. This was followed for awhile, though I don't think it was ever an official rule. Since each page has 15 posts, that means we have a max of 30 embeds per page if everyone follows this. From my experience that worked pretty well and the pages still loaded without much issue (though sometimes a bit slow). Plus, I don't think you're going to need more than 2 embeds very often, (I could see it if you were writing a more in depth post or an article). 2 embeds, and hyperlink to any additional songs? I also recall that when quoting someone we used to remove the embed (and also images) if it was on the same or previous page (you just replaced the embed with a text description of what it is), because really, we don't need the same video appearing 3 times on one page.

Anyway, that's my suggestion. But when everyone/most people are doing 4-8+ fucking embeds per post makes things so damn hard to load.
