Hold on, Billy Joe is a guilty pleasure now? The only time I've heard that somebody implied that was in a Simpsons joke, and I don't even remember in what episode it was exactly.

Well, Thicke personally claimed that he was influenced on that song by Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up" and it's hard to find somebody who doesn't think that Marvin Gaye is catchy. So, good idea from Thicke.

Yeah, I have to admit that I appreciate the artistic value of that song, albeit I can't stand "We Can't Stop," frankly I can't understand who would like that piece of--

I don't know. I lost track of the endless circle-jerk about what music it's OK to like some time back in the early 2000s. I'm pretty sure the last time I checked, his music was considered too "safe" and "pedestrian" for the people who decide these things.

All I know is that it's really catchy, there are hot women with very few clothes on, and the people who write opinion pieces for the Guardian think it's the worst thing to happen since the Khmer Rouge.

Out of nowhere, this song started playing in my head a little while ago, and I sort of like it:

There so much pathos in this song. The mental image that springs to mind whenever this song comes up is of someone creepily layering lipstick on their lips while singing FOREVER YOUNG I WANT TO BE FOREVER YOUNG (that has to be from some TV show, but I haven't been able to find it). Yet, I kind of love this song.

I was introduced to this song via.... meatspin for the love of god don't google that term, so I feel like I wasn't allowed to like this song unironically. Yet I will sing this song every time it comes up on my iPod or the radio.

Guilty Pleasures

Postby Doodle Dee. Snickers » Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:48 am

Aside from my undying love for Meatloaf, I have more than a few guilty pleasures in my mp3 player. So let your unmanly/manly/embarrasing-ass-song fly. I thought I'd kick us off with one I have an unreasonable amount of affection for and let everyone else follow up:

I don't have any guilty pleasure songs! All my favorite songs make perfect sense and get me no strange looks...

Spoiler: show
HA!
Let's start this with the lovely Ms. Spears (this vid is slightly NSFW):

Spoiler: show
There's also Swifty Swift (this video is horrible in my opinion):

That's all I can think of right now...

JamishT was a heck of a guy,
With a devilish twinkle in his eye.
With his hand-picked flowers,
And his feel-good powers,
He made all the girls blush and sigh.

I've gotta say, I absolutely adore some of what Andrew WK put out. Guilty pleasure or not.

To be fair, this is okay. I also like the video, though I totally can't place why.

I'd been thinking about this for a while and nothing came to mind, but then something appeared on the radio that definitely qualifies:

The vocals are terrible, so by all rights I should hate it, but the instrumentals are just too damn good.

I truly hate myself for this, because Fergie is objectively the worst. Even in the scope of this song, the sheer Fergieness of it leads to a palpable headache. It makes me wish this was a cover and there was a talented artist I could be listening to instead.

Oh no. I'm grooving out again. HOW COME EVERY TIME YOU COME AROUND--
