Hippity Hip Hip Hop

What do you listen to?

Hippity Hip Hip Hop

Postby Lindvaettr » Thu Sep 07, 2017 3:05 am

So, I stopped listening to both pop and rap about a decade ago, and just now started to get back in. Unfortunately, none of the newer, better known rappers I'm familiar with have really caught my attention. I enjoy some of them, but nothing that really makes me want to listen.

Do we have any rap fans hanging around here who are familiar with some good rappers that have cropped up in the past decade who really struck a chord? Or even rappers older than 10 years. If you have any good recommendations, I'll take 'em.

My favorite right now is kinda underground, but he's super solid lyrically and melodically! 9/10, will always recommend!

JamishT was a heck of a guy,
With a devilish twinkle in his eye.
With his hand-picked flowers,
And his feel-good powers,
He made all the girls blush and sigh.

Thanks very much, Tess and not Jamish! I'd listened to Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino before, but not much, and not Azealia Banks at all. These are good recommendations.

I'm double posting and I don't feel bad.

I discovered Lil Dicky last night. I like him, and he's pretty funny

This one's not really funny, it's kinda sad and I like it.

I wanted to listen to this, but after seeing "Particle Man" I naturally had to listen to They Might Be Giants. Luckily, Spotify had my back and after TMBGs was done, it switched to this song.

I like this one more than the first. It's bluesy and reminds me of Everlast.

I don't listen to rap that much but I know a few tracks and artists that are pretty awesome.

Sisyphus - Alcohol

Run The Jewels - Don't Get Captured

Run The Jewels - Early

Killer Mike - Reagan

Speaking of Run The Jewels, their stuff is free so you can't complain. Not that anyone would.

They shouldn't be giving away the product of their work. This disincentivizes laborers and contributes to the flawed idea that work has no inherent value. In order to create a more utopic world, Run The Jewels should charge the greatest amount possible for their work. I will no support any artist who does not support an objectivist world view.

Greed is good. Fuck this commie bullshit.
