Star Vs. The Forces of Evil

So, there's this hilarious, awesome relatively new a/b vignette style show I'm obsessed with called Star vs. The Forces of Evil. It's a western style parody of magical girl genre anime (mostly Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Magical Knight Rayearth) to the point where it has an ending theme and a kappa as the main villain. The main character is essentially Mabel Pines if she were a Sailor Scout.

It's about damn time someone one here started talking about this show. I love it! Also...uh, the kappa dude is voiced by Alan Tudyk. Yes, Wash from Firefly. He's also King Candy in Wreck-it-Ralph, and the Duke of Weaseltown (Wesselton!) in Frozen. Dude has an impressive voice acting career by the looks of it...maybe he should voice someone on Gravity Falls, since Nathan Fillion voices one of the bad guys.

Also, the guy from Dexter voices a bad guy named...Toffee.

I'm waffling between starting this or not. Steven Universe is fine, but the plot is sooo slow with too many crying episodes for me. I was worried this would be a watered down version of Steven Universe, hense my hesitation. What's the humor like for this show, slapstick or verbal?

This show is much, much lighter than Steven Universe. The humor is both slapstick and verbal, with many instances of getting crap past the radar.

Plus, it has some really tight continuity. Like REALLY tight. I think it'll be getting its own myth arc too.

Nice, I'm a sucker for anime inspired shows!

The new episode on tuesday isn't going to be a vignette episode, but a full 22 minutes.

So the new episode aired last night...it was heavy. Like, really, REALLY heavy. Reddit and Tumblr are looking at the episode and noticing some things that could be MAJOR forshadowing. Shit is going down pretty soon.

The latest episode was pretty good, though the b episode was a bit awkward, and ends with
Spoiler: show
Marco being a dick.

Also,
Spoiler: show
is Buff Frog switching sides?

There won't be a new episode for a month. The struggle.

So, Toffee's agenda has been revealed. Man, that was a heavy episode.

I wonder how the
Spoiler: show
wand being cleaved will affect Star's magic.

Will it be weaker? Stronger? Uncontrollable?

The new season is here. This episode brings us Marco naked in the closet, the creepy antics of Glossaryck, and
Spoiler: show
set-up for Starco, which I don't really care for. The show works better with a platonic relationship between the two main leads, in my opinion
.

Also, Star apparently kidnaps magical baby narwhals Yuno Gasai style.

There's also a hilarious "day in the limelight" b vignette with Ludo.

Things are looking good this season.
