Peer into the abyss: the live-action Sonic movie

What have you been watching?

As awful as the trailer is, I actually think Sonic's design is not really the worst thing about it. If the body was better proportioned and he had less human teeth, I think the facial design would probably look fine.

In other Sonic news, I've had Gangsta's Paradise stuck in my head all day, even though I only watched the trailer a few times in a row, which makes me angry because I now can't not associate it with Sonic saying 'Meow?' and James Marsden pretending to have kidnapped a child and Jim Carrey thinks the guy from Band of Brothers is basic.

That said, on my 29th viewing, I noticed the subtle implication that this is a prequel to Battlestar Galactica, which makes me a bit more interested.

Hey don't worry. I watched the Pikachu trailer and now everytime I see Sonic I get "I Need A Gyro" in my head.

Vindication for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog, who can now no longer claim to be the most horrific CGI creature unleashed on the innocent movie-going public this year:

Yes.

This made my brain fire in a "I know this exists somewhere" way and sure enough the internet does not disappoint. I present you, Thomas the train in Starlight Express.

There were a few others using real clips but that one actually made me laugh at one point. (And was short)

Yes. This, but with Idris Elba's face transposed onto a train, in the most awkward and horrifying way possible.
